Does anyone else use WaveSecure?

This thread has intrigued me enough to download and try it. Very impressed so far, and I have tested it fairly thoroughly

. SMS and contacts backup seamless
. remote lock works a treat
. Locked the phone, removed the battery, inserted my work sim ... restarted. Not only did WaveSecure refuse to let me past the splashscreen, but it logged the new sim change, sent me an email, but sent a text to my buddy too. I rang my work number and was allowed to answer it. On ending the call, the splashcreen locked again.

Outstanding! This is something I have been looking for ... piece of mind!

And best of all, its free to Andoid users until the end of Jan 2010. When you download from the Market, the message states "lifetime subscription" ... you just can't lose.

Thankyou tencube, you really have made my day!

Hi Bhav,
We've set up our UK SMS gateway and text messages should come from a local gateway for UK WaveSecure users now.

Can you test it out to make sure it works for you?

Thanks,

I can confirm that the texts received are now from a +44 number.

Thanks very much for sorting this :) appreciate it.

Thanks for all this info about thieving SMS messages.

Excuse me? Have you understood how the apps works, or even read this entire thread? It's pretty clear that yes there was an issue but equally clear that the devs have addressed it. Nobody's forcing you to use it or even like it, but throwing accusations like this around is not acceptable.

Well, Slug, yes, the unapproved international SMS messages were claimed to be fixed for certain areas. But an outgoing international SMS was also mentioned and I didn't see any claim that it has been removed or announced (in the UI, not in a forum). If I'm mistaken about that, OK. In any case, I never claimed that anyone was forcing me to do anything. I thanked people here for the warning about an app that does (or did) something I find enormously offensive. I was saved a lot of possible annoyance, and I'm grateful. Sorry I annoyed you, though I really can't see why. I have nothing more to say about this app.

I really like this app, but I recently changed moved from T-Mobile to T-Mobile Business, they wouldn't allow me to port my phone number internally, so I've had to do it via another network. I'm not 100% sure the whole process will be over with before the 31st January cut off date for Free Wavesecure.

Can someone from the Wavesecure team please confirm the situation with ported numbers? My SIM Card won't change, just the number. Will my account still be valid? Will I be able to update the number on my account? Will I have to sign up for a new account? Will my phone be locked?

Thanks,

Jason

Hi,
You can install and activate WaveSecure without SMS as the client will rely on data if it fails to activate via SMS. You can also perform features like backup from the client. However, server-activated commands like remote tracking and remote backup will not work as the client needs to receive commands via SMS.

Hope that helps.

WaveSecure - Anti-theft and security software for Symbian, Android and Windows Mobile

Can you instruct me on how to do this? I've got it installed on the Motorola droid, SMS disabled through Verizon but using Google Voice (as default messaging app) and I can't seem to get it to work. After the sms verification fails, it just asks to try again (and again).

Thanks

Hi jjmatt33,
I have to apologize for providing incorrect information. Unfortunately, you need to have text messaging enabled for WaveSecure to activate. Upon installation, WaveSecure requires you to verify your phone number. To do that, the client sends itself a text message to confirm the number.

Currently, Google Voice is not supported but we will investigate the feasibility of its implementation.

Thanks for responding to me. Is there any more official way for me to follow the development in regards to this?

Hi Jason,
Your WaveSecure account is tied to your mobile number. Hence, your account will not work if you change numbers. That said, you can write to our support and we're manually port your account to this new number.

Will you also do something about the sms-Charges in Germany?

Regards
Seelbreaker

Hi Seelbreaker,
As WaveSecure is available internationally, whenever feasible and if there is enough demand from our users, we will set up local SMS gateways accordingly. However, it is impossible for us to do this for every country.

Fortunately, you will not incur incoming international text charges unless you lock, locate, backup or wipe your device using the web site.

Thanks,
