Why couldn't the Atrix have the waterproof specs of the defy!

Different target markets for both of the phones. The Defy is geared towards businesses that can use the phone on the fields without worrying that a drop may break it. It has support for Corporate calendar, email and contacts (Exchange 2003 and 2007). This is an area where Android is lacking. Also, you can do a complete remote wipe (including SD card I believe) if the phone gets lost. There are some other security features that corporations requires for their business phones.

I want a defy because of the waterproof, and dust specs, but I want the Atrix because of the POWER!

Also I would like to know what everyone thinks the price on ebay will drop to after release? As the current price is $750 which is just crazy.

I will relate this to you all about my Motorola Atrix that was 2 weeks old at the time and you can use the knowledge as you see fit. This actually happened and I still have and use the phone as is.

I dropped it (unawares) into a pond of about 10 inches of water. It was there for a minimum of 25 minutes which was how long we were looking for it. Thank God it landed right side up or else we would never have found it. I asked one of the people helping me to try to call it so we could see if we could hear it ringing. after the 3rd try, i saw it in the water with the display lit up showing me that I had an incoming call. 25 MINUTES IN THE POND at this point. I tore off the cover, stripped it, dried it out and 4 hours later it was and still is fully functional with absolutely no effects from its attempted drowning. This phone is watertight. All i had on it was a screen protector that i had to replace cause water got up underneath it.

You got lucky. This is dangerous advice, as the Atrix is not a waterproof phone at all.

25 minutes? Really? Receiving call under water?

Yea if anyone believes this, I also have some beach front property in WACO, TX that could be yours for a low low price.
