Root DHD downgrading before rooting problem

Right... at least this time I managed to get the phone to see the ZIP file. It started the whole process (so far, better than when I've used the 2gb SD card as a goldcard).

Got to the end of the second (yellow) progress bar and it said CID fail (or whatever it is that it says when you need a goldcard).

Honestly don't know what to do... any ideas welcome!!

Is that the same method as this one (I used this one): Creating a GoldCard - Android @ MoDaCo ??

There are a few people that had the same or similar problems on here that I have seen, but they were almost all resolved by using a different SD card, the rest that I have seen had made an error in the creation of a Goldcard

Same method, from a different site. Only thing that I did differently was to use the goldcard helper app from the market (rather than having to d/l anything else).

Just had a look at another thread (http://androidforums.com/desire-hd-...ware-downgrading-1-32-405-6-1-84-720-3-a.html) and am formatting my SD card again and gonna try the method for creating a goldcard without using Hex... we'll see!!

Hang on... looks like I may have been able to sort it out!!!!

I used the MMC2 number that I got from the "goldcardhelper" app to get a goldcard image, which I then used in the "goldcard tool" on my PC. I rebooted and it's all sorted - well... downgraded at least... now all I have to do is set the phone up like new!! :D

Lol - I know... thing is - I tried using the goldcard tool, but it would only allow me to use MMC0 (not MMC1 or MMC2)... I'd been using MMC2 from the offset when creating the goldcard image in the first place.

Just had a bit of a mare... Thought that the phone had stopped working, as I was not getting any signal, but then remembered that I'm on Orange and there's only sh!t reception where I live!

Now to move on to rooting the phone!!!

poopookakada - did you use visionary? Did you have any problems?? I've looked at several videos... it looks straight forward enough to me - temp root, then attempt perm root?
