Steve, I'm about to install this but I have to go through a few steps because I flashed the crt off animation, which will probably cause me to be screwed if I flash .595 over .591. What I'm going to do is sbf back to Froyo, install the version of gingerbread with the 3 zip files, which is think is .588, then install the latest rooted/deodexed .595. Does this sound right to you? Also, If I do this, we should be able to flash the stock .595 rom over this and accept the OTA when it comes out?

Wow, just had a really strange sbf. When it started back up, I got lots of force closes, and when it finally did get going...the labels under the icons would scroll. "Text Messaging" would scroll under the envelope. It was actually kinda cool. I just did a factory reset to see if it clears that up. Gotta make sure froyo is all good before updating it.

Ok, so im finally on 588 Thanks metfan and Steve5tothe8!!

But it seems when i opened rom manager and tried to make a backup(before flashing 595) Its not executing it, it just reboots like normal. I check the manage backups and it is not in there. Do i need to switch from Droid 2 bootstrap to the Droid X one? Or should I just forgetmaking the backup and go ahead and dl the 595 unofficial offical GB?

Are you in a full 4G area? If not or if you just don't need to use it at times, you can download a toggle app that will allow you to shut it off for much better battery life. I did that for my gf since we don't yet have 4G down our way. I also flashed an undervolted kernel and now the phone gets about 18-24 hours of battery life under light to moderate use.

The only nice thing about these leaks is they're so freakin' easy to do; download the ZIP, flash it, and wait for boot up. No losing data or anything complicated.

.595 is pretty slick so far.

I cant load into clockwork recovery. By either droid x bootstrap nor rom manager. Do i have to do something with gingerbreak? Im still showing I have root access though?

I just thought of something. If the stock version of .595 is plagued with glitches, will you still be able to grab the official OTA and upgrade or will the glitches prevent you from getting the OTA?

Go into your settings and uncheck USB debugging, then try the DX bootstrap again.

It's totally possible to flash from the .595 non rooted and odexed. This is the most versatile leak, yet.

It's not plagued with glitches. As I understand it, this is or is near to the final release. It's slick.

Reroot with GingerBreak 1.2 and then try Droid 2 Bootstrapper again. Most people lost root when flashing all the leaks but the super user app would remain. You may need to reinstall busybox as well.

Confirming the speed increases. I live in a weaker area for VZW always got about 300-350kbps (down and up) on every ROM, and I've flashed them all. Even with the new baseband in .588, my speeds were same.

However after my flash of .595 ----- BAM !! easily 750kbps+ down and up. I visited my parents today -- they live in a better coverage area and I consistently achieve 1.4mbps down and 900kbps up with .595 (again, nearly double my prior speeds in this location)

I initially was trying the D2 bootstrap. But unchecking usb debugging and trying droid x strap worked like a charm. I just made my backup of .588 and now will be flashing......deodexed 595!

BTW, what is the diff between the first two 595 files: fully deodexed and fully odexed?

You can flash modifications over the deodexed rom, you can't over the odexed.

Just popping in to say I'm on .595, underclocked to .9ghz and it still feels faster than being overclocked on froyo. woo!

we'll see how it holds up under heavier use
