so everytime i lock my phone, for some reason i lose all my signals and the wifi signal. even when im not using wifi i lose the 1x. however, when i unlock the phone then theyll come back in a matter of 2 or 3 seconds. does this affect me getting txts and calls or is it a normal thing for the ascend?

icarus, rooted

Sounds like you're using a task killer or battery saving apps.If so,disable them & see what happens. If you're using a CPU app,you may have your screen-off profile settings too low.

For the WI-FI, download the app WI-FI FIXER & see if you have better results.

Edit: A BTW on WI-FI,you may also be interested in the app WI-FI STATUS.In short,it's an app that will help prevent battery draining.

im using juice defender. however, if i disable it, it seems as though my battery just drains wildly because the phone exists. should i disable it anyway?

I tried JUICE DFENDER twice before & had connectivity problems both times.I would DEFINITELY ditch it.Most who have used it here have had similar problems w/it & actually have seem an INCREASE in battery drain.

I'm surprised you're not seeing a longer battery life between charges since installing ICARUS 1.1 Take a look @ your battery stats,I'm guessing you've got something (app) running in the background needlessly.

Just try running w/o JUICE DEFENDER for a week or so + d/l WI-FI STATUS & BATTERY CALIBRATION TOOL.Your phone should settle down & should see an improvement in battery life,& not to mention,an end to your DATA/WI-FI connectivity issues.

thanks for ur help. now that u mention it, Lookout is ALWAYS running. and ever since i got icarus, JD was the first thing i d/ld along with lookout. should i ditch lookout too? i kinda do see how a phone can catch a virus but i could be wrong.

LOOKOUT doesn't appear to consume too many resources.LOOKOUT claims it only uses approx. 30-40 seconds of total power in a days use.(Check the app FAQ &/or app description in the market for this quote/claim)
Besides,LOOKOUT only runs when needed, not continuously;it only runs when d/l content or scheduled scan times.(Which only last 1-2 minutes per scan)If you're otherwise happy w/LOOKOUT,I'd keep it.

another thing with saving you battery if your wifi is on and the screen time out it automatic turns of wifi, and also if wifi is on your 1x data will go off until you turn wifi off...and make sure gps is turn off in setting lacation and security, that will kill your battery for sure.
its kinda funny. now that u bring it up, my gps is ALWAYS on. i mainly keep it on for security purposes though because i tend to lose my phone a lot. and if i happen to lose it at school (which i havent thank God) its on just in case so i can use the Where's my Droid App to locate it or make it scream. just an extra security measure. i suppose i should keep it off when im home though.
