DROID X hotspot range

I understand that. In order for my phone to get the 3G signal, which will give the fastest data download/upload speed, I have to place my phone in the window. I am wondering how close to the phone I will have to be.
The phone not being a dedicated hotspot device makes me question what type of range it has.

It's not against the rules to discuss rooting. Where did you see that? For each phone section, there is a subforum called "All about Rooting" and this was placed by the owner/admins of this site.

Sorry, my mistake. I thought I was on the Verizon forum where it is against the rules to discuss rooting because it voids your warranty. However, my statement is true with regards the Verizon forum, where you can discuss methods to circumvent having to pay for services.

Def won't refute tethering being illegal. It sure is. And yes, while rooting is legal, it voids your warranty. I can see that the Verizon forum wouldn't want any talk of root. It must be quite a headache for them when people who don't know what they are doing attempt to root a phone and screw up. I saw a quote from a T-Mobile VP that said 50% of the phones that are returned for warranty are flashed with the factory software and then run fine. Go figure.

Seriously though? They allow you to talk about how to illegal tether in the VZW forums?

Yes, the mods will censor posts about rooting and links to sites that discull rooting. However, if someome posts about how to get around having to pay for using the hotspot feature or how to tether without paying..... nothing.... (Guess that doesn't void your warranty..... haha!)
