Root CLiq 2 Roms

There doesn't seem to be any Motorola Cliq 2 roms anywhere, especially ones without motoblur... Does anyone know a dev who could possibly make some roms?

i was going to buy this phone for my little brother but honestly from what i've seen looking around

not a lot of consumers have this phone which means i doubt u will see a lot of support for this phone

The cliq 2 is a good phone though... minus the memory killing blur... Right now I am stuck with launcher pro (though not bad I prefer vanilla froyo) and just trying not to use any blur widgets etc.

I sure hope we get something! I'm new to this whole thing and I got the Cliq 2 because of the keyboard and the appearance of the device. I didn't realize how slow and unresponsive it would get! Sometimes when waking the phone I have to try 2 or 3 times to unlock it because the swipe to unlock doesn't register my finger press or it stops halfway and never resets. The touch screen controls just stop responding and then rapidly do a bunch of things I didn't want.

Other times I'll be typing something on the keyboard and find that some of my keys magically activate different functions in my phone instead of typing the key they are supposed to....

This thing is really buggy and I'd like to get away from motoblur as soon as I can. I like the hardware...just needs better firmware.

Strange! I have had myn for about 2 months and havnt noticed it slow down at all!

A couple questions for you....
First off have you EVER cleared the cache? Its a computer it slows down

What Launcher are you using? Remove the standard one and get one like ADW launcher AppBrain Android market | ADW.Launcher..... Right now I'm testing out a free launcher called Regina Launcher ( can you say 3D?) It works decent.... a 3 sec lag when you push the home screen but I still love the 3D like effects...... Have you tried a master reset?

Master Reset - Using Hardware Buttons

To perform a master reset using hardware buttons, following these steps:

Power down the device.
Slide out the keyboard. Press and hold the X key and power button simultaneously.
After approximately 25 seconds, a triangle with a yellow exclamation point (!) will appear along with an android. Press and hold the volume up, volume down and camera buttons for approximately 2 seconds. The Android System Recovery menu will appear.
Use the volume down key to highlight wipe data/factory reset. Press the camera button to select.
Use the volume down key to highlight Yes

Yeah i tried that and it deleted all my settings and apps but this method does not restore the android system files. I.E. The notification bar

This is why I don't recommend people using themes like that.... IMO who cares what what color the notification bar is...... I have heard nothing but problems with metamorph maybe one day I will try it.... if you ever get gingerbread you will get a black notification bar....

I really not a mean person i just need to learn to be nicer in my replies hehe. I know some about thr system and if i dont i ask questions there is no such thing as a stupid question unless you dont ask it.... this is a nice little phone once people explore it.... its a turn off to people cause of the locked bootloader but its always possible to break it...... i will go through my system in the morning to see if i can get the status bar....... i highly recommend for anyone not to theme using meta untill we get a custom recover and ndroid installed.... if you want to theme use like panda or adw as they have there own theme systems...yes you cant change notification bar color but its safer..... i cant even find the source code for the cliq 2 im still looking maybe we need to push moto to release it.....

I found a link to a custom Rom over at the unlocker and the same rom is posted at modmymobile. It's called Gingerbread Leak. I'm not real sure about it though as there's no instructions how to root and no comments on the page. I know I need to downgrade my Cliq 2 first anyways. Hopefully someone can get this going and give some feedback.

I have a Cliq 2 and have been searching for roms.I have yet to find any, but I did stumble upon Android version 2.3.4 (Gingerbread) that was leaked. I don't know if anyone else was able to get it. I can't find the original thread I got mine from, but this one looks like it will work the same. I installed it and my Cliq 2 gets buggy once in awhile, but it seems like a big improvement! Still has MotoBlur though, sorry! Also remember to reboot your device once a day for better performance.


Also, has anyone else has problems with their Cliq 2 in heat? Like, in the car or even in my house, if it isn't at least 65 degrees my phone overheats and doesn't charge..

Regarding the keyboard issue, this happened to me awhile back and it has something to do with the search button on the keyboard (magnifying glass). For example, if you hold that key down and the "B" it opens the browser. I can't get it to do what you said it's doing right now but if it does it again, try messing with that search button. I can't remember how I got it stop, probably by pressing it again or maybe alt+search. Hope that helps.

I don't know if this be the right place to ask this but has anyone tried Backtrack 5 arm distro. I was wondering if it will work before I tried it and have searched all over but haven't found any one who has tried it on the Moto CLIQ2 MB611? I am happy that a dev is trying to port an unofficial cyanogenmod.
