Root Google Apps pack for CM7

Another question I have...Do I need SetCPU with CM7? I was going through some of the settings and it seems to have its own clocking setting, maxing out at 1113 like SetCPU (After I had already bought SetCPU too...).
I'm currently on CM7 and have never used SetCPU. I'm not sure it would be beneficial or not. Hopefully someone can chime in and let us know.

Yes, it would be nice to know. I'm also curious about the stability of CM7. It has "crashed" or reset multiple times just doing random things. Does anyone else have that happen often or is it due to overclocking?

If you are only overclocked to 1113 then it is unlikely that that is an issue. Most Evos can be OC to 1152 without issue and some to 1190. As far as Setcpu, if you are not wanting to use profiles such as screen off, battery percentage, or temp then you will be good with the basic settings in CM. I use the Smartass governor which basically has its own presets for profiles and have no issues with it. Did you flash a different kernel after you flashed CM7?

Im currently using a savage zen kernel for cm7 and have great battery life as well. I recommend it!
almost 9 hours in and at 90%.

No, I'm just using whatever kernal was on the phone unless one flashed with CM7. That was another question I had. Does CM7 have a kernal with it or do I have to flash one seperately?

it comes with one (as a kernel of some sort is necessary for it to work) but there are better ones out there. your results may vary from others with the exact same setup, but id try tiamat 3.3.7 or 3.3.8.... im testing the new 4.0.1 so i dont know how it yet reacts.... but id give one of them a whirl
Could you post later and let us know how 4.0.1 is? I've never flashed a kernel on any android phone (3.3.8 will be my first) and I think both Vanquished and I would be more comfortable if we had some feedback before flashing the latest kernel.

positively!! if i were you guys, id do the 3.3.8 first, but as always make a nandroid first, cuz then you can simply restore if youre not liking the results :) i flashed the new one about an hour ago, and seems to be acting quite normal. So yeah, we always say to give a kernel a couple days b4 making a keep/ditch decision, but make a b/u and flash away y'all :)

I'm running 4.0.1 and so far it is great with CM 7.0.3.1. I'm sitting at 91% battery since being unplugged about 5 and a half hours. Granted, that is with very light usage aside from some time on kindle, but overall I'm very happy.

I'm also running an undervolt script from Viperboy. So i'm -50 from what the default kernel voltage would normally be. I tried -75 but was getting a handful of freeze/reboot issues. So far -50 seems to be solid for me.

I haven't had anything crash yet. And I'm currently looking for a kernel to help improve battery life.

Hmm...I wonder why mine has crashed...It's just doing simple things like opening an app, pushing the power button to turn it off, using the Google search widget and so forth. I'll try Tiamat out. Would having a new kernal solve some of these issues?

As a side note though, I have seen a performance increase since rooting. The menus still seem to have a slight lag, but a lot less noticable than Sense. Not having all of the bloatware suck up 80% of my RAM, having the extra 100mhz from overclocking and probably the Android 2.3 update really makes a difference with games though, I love it!

try a new kernel to see if the lag is corrected.... but make a pizza first.... wait, not a pizza, a nandroid... yeah, a nandroid, thats it :D
