Has it been confirmed yet? May 12.

If nothing today, no way three devices are releasing (Rev, X 2 and Windows Phone) and probably doubtful the X 2 will. Even the infamously allof Thunderbolt had some chatter and hints a few days before launch.

Almost nothing (so far) in this case.

Apple is sucking the ever-living Android soul out of Verizon.

Didn't the Incredible 2 launch with very little fanfare? Or does the X2 rate higher in the marketing world because of the dual core proc?

Info was out and a firm date by the Monday of launch. Verizon stores know nothing, so seems BS that three devices (or any?) are releasing on the 12th.

I would be surprised beyond belief if 3 handsets materialized in stores on the 12th. Do we even have a firm official sell date for the Droid Charge? I know some have leaked out, but retailers have been told to "hold the phone" literally until further notice.

In addition, we have the Apple focus to contend with. In addition to that, they still have a lot of stock of last year's Droid X to clear out, if I'm not mistaken. Why in the heck would they release a DX2 right now? I think they should. They have NOTHING dual core in the android arena. It's actually a little embarrassing.

Berizon: We might have the weakest search engine on some of our phones, an inferior and non-free navigation system we want to trick you into using, and the weakest phone selection of U.S. nationwide carriers, but we still have the strongest LTE network! I mean, it's been broken here and there, but by golly, it's strong when it works!! (which is true. Berizon's LTE is awesome.)

Contrary to what some have posted, Best Buy in Lexington has been selling the Charge for two weeks now. None the less, there has not been a peep about May 12th and three devices by the sites that reported it last week. They talked/passed on smack and now probably can not back it up.

Were it not for Bing, the Revolution would be the clear choice due to the features (in spite of the 8655 chipset), which even with the Snap refresh, it is SUPPOSED to have a dedicated chip for video function. Bing CAN be tamed though and the IPS display is a HUGE step over the Droid X 2, if the DX2 has the same display as the Atrix- yuck.

Then again, I am a gamer and if the Play is as easy to root as the Euro version (to get rid of hundreds of megs of bloat), I may just get that and get my game on... with a real gamepad :)

I like the idea of a gamepad phone, but sony botched it big in two ways:

1. Using the aging Adreno. With the same Adreno graphics processor found in the Thunderbolt, some games will actually get WORSE performance than last year's hummingbird/PowerGPU 540 combo in the galaxy S series. This was a big mistake, in my opinion.
2. Using only a 4 directional gamepad instead of a circle pad style controller for variable direction AND intensity control, like the 3DS:

Nintendo 3DS Black | Get the Best Deal on Nintendo 3DS Game

I always have to remind myself that I'm still getting a phone, and it still needs to be a good phone. Even though Sony-Erikson does tend to make pretty decent phones of late, the diversity antennas and triple noise cancelling mics found on the DX - assuming they make it to the DX2, of course - offer land line quality phone service. That is absolutely no exaggeration, and I can say from personal experience. The Droid X is one amazing communication device, where phone quality is concerned. Battery life was good on the thing, too.

We'll soon see. As soon as the 12th? Doubtful, but soon nonetheless.

As mentioned in another thread, even the supersecret TB and low radar Inc 2 release had information at some stores and strong media rumors, this close in. The very sites that talked smakc about a launch are keeping quiet now, since nothing to back the smack up.

Actually, the Inc 2 was announced the Monday before release.

Not happening this week.

....i'm going to go with a no.

We all should stop expecting phones to release soon just because we see a glimmer of hope...like dummy units, leaked specs, leaked photos....the way its been lately we should add about six months to when all that jazz comes out...don't get me wrong i wish it was coming out sooner than later but just looking at the trend that has been going on i would not get in a hurry for any new device to release soon or when originally thought.

DROIDX2 Launching May 26th with Dual-core Processor, qHD Screen and Gingerbread - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

Teeheehee :). Good news. Honestly, the 26th is only two weeks late. That's not too bad. The phone looks impressive, and will mirror via HDMI right out of the box. Also shipping with stock Gingy. Gonna be a cool phone. If it happens to have an unencrypted bootloader, I will put this phone back on my short list, notwithstanding my hope for an SGSII someday. I keep three lines on my account so I can upgrade phones more often. :D

I just think I might as well get the damn thing and move on, been trying to replace my eris with something better for 6 months, I just need to make a decision and go on with my life! :p

Hey, the Fascinate is free w/2 year upgrade at some places now! I'm loving it with the new community ROM. But the Droid X would be a good pick, too. I'm personally going to wait for the SGSII, but the DX2 would definitely be back on my list if it has an unencrypted bootloader. That is worth so much. I have owned a Fascinate and a Droid X, and both are phenomenal phones, but the customization and developer options for the Fascinate have made it an absolutely phenomenal experience. Motorola's original Droid had the same great community backing, and I'm sure future Motorola Droid phones would get that same amazing support if they would just get rid of their tightly locked bootloaders. That was one of the reasons I eventually returned the DX and kept the Fascinate.

We'll soon see! I'm certain it will be a ginormous upgrade over the Eris. I own one of those, too!! :D

Ya I've been watching the SGSII but there just doesn't seem to be any recent developments for eta. I'm somewhat content with my Eris. I just wish I would have gotten an original Droid X, they are such sweet phones. The Eris just doesn't do Android any justice at all unless you root. I hate to resign a 2 yr agreement with a phone that will be obsolete in a few months. However, that's bound to happen to anyone these days no matter how good a phone you get. I figure 3G vs 4G right now is negligible because they are really still working kinks out of 4G. In two years I would think it would be a stable as 3G...that's when I would probably get a 4G phone. Plus, I live in W Texas and I think we are last on the list to get 4G :p...

Thanks for the info on the Fascinate, I have a niece that has one and they are pretty nice. Still running 2.1 though from what I hear!

No. They have official 2.2 now. But developer released Community ROM is absolutely sensational.

As an aside, I bet you get 4G before east Idaho does! :D
