This question has been asked but never answered elseware in the forums. Does anyone know how to creat just a simple folder with a custom Icon in better cut? It must be possible, but for the life of me i've no clue how to do it.

On a related question I think I found a way to browse to an icon that I want to change using Astro, but I don't know if I can navigate to what is one the desktop of the phone....does anybody know the path (droid)

As always, thanks for your help in advance.

I've never used better cut so I can't answer your question directly...however if all you want to do is....

to creat just a simple folder with a custom Icon

You can do that pretty easily using 'App organizer'. What's better is that you can download the icon pack.....select the icon and the uninstall the icon pack so conserve space. App organizer will remember the icon and apply it to the folder even in the absence of the icon pack.

Or you can wait for someone else to answer using better cut. :)

Hope this helps

I have both dxtop and Better Cut installed. I can now long-press any icon, including folder icons, and a popup appears allowing me to "change icon". That didn't happen when I used some other home replacement apps, even with Better Cut installed. So, I'm thinking it must be the dxtop + Better Cut combo (BC needed to get at those "icon pack"s when you're not using one of the listed home replacement apps). In any event, money well spent, IMHO. You can always try and refund within 24 hours if not satisfied, so maybe worth a whirl.

Yeah, works exactly as I would want it to in dxtop, only drawback is there isn't a single other advantage with dxtop as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for trying to help though.
Awww, 'cmon now PardNah. I'm in love with its 5-icon app dock, built-in task killer and its consistent smoothness, stability and speed, despite me playing widgets-up-da-wazoo. (There have been a couple of widgets which futzed things, but once removed, I was back in e-Heaven.)

But, always good to have multiple choices, eh? Something for everyone.

I just felt constricted only having 4 home screens to play with. Home++ has a lot of stuff that I like about it, but in the end it just gets too laggy, so I am back on GDE again. For me it seems just as fast as native, the trasition effects are neat, and the communication log widget is awsome. Running the obsidian skin, it's just the best overall replacement for me appearance and function wise.
