Giving up on Springpad, moving to Evernote

I've recommended Springpad over Evernote a couple of times because it has some features that I preferred. However, since Springpad is using Amazon's cloud-based service , they have been going down regularly and I can't count on being able to access my stuff on Springpad.

I can write stuff on my Springpad app, but it can't update with the "cloud". Since the "cloud" is down, I can't look at the items on my Springpad since the last time I opened it (which was before it went down).

For those unfamiliar with what is going on, here is an article from about 3 weeks ago explaining the crash that happened that time (not sure what happened today):

Stability aside, I used to use Springpad until I switched to Evernote and greatly prefer Evernote.

Ok, it's been down, but it's primarily the fault of a large multinational - amazon. wont be long before this is a thing of the past.

Plus Springpad fixed the Phone app to stay local when it couldn't connect and will have local PC storage (HTML5 based) within a few weeks.

Your right, it was a pain in the Ass, but long term (well even short term), it's a non issue really.

EDIT : Infact I looked now to see how it was progressing and looks like for Chrome at least (an HTML5 Browser) it's there now.

The nice thing about Evernote is that if its servers go down you're still covered -- because it stores copies of all your data both in the cloud AND on your PCs. So as long as you run a copy of their client software on one of your computers, you're fine.

And I'm with most of you ... I started with Springpad but quickly ditched it in favor of Evernote. Springpad may be prettier, but Evernote has the power and depth.

Not only that, but if you are a premium member of Evernote, you can set your notebooks to be available offline on your phone via their Android app.
