iPad 2 vs Asus eee pad transformer?

Which should i get? Im looking for 1 with a better gpu and battery life. The price doesnt matter for me. Im just a heavy gamer.

The quoted battery life is 10 hours, I believe, but after one week, I'm getting 12 hours out of my Transformer.

With the Nvidia dual-core processor and their graphics card experience, I think that for gaming the Transformer should wipe the floor with the ipad. That being said, the ipad probably has more games (for now), so you judge what's better gaming.

Current there are more (and better) games for the ipad; plain and simple it is a more established platform. As time progresses things will improve for android.With regards to cpu/battery. Can't really give a definitive answer but I believe the ipad 2 has a bit longer battery life (30min to an hour). I havent' seen any raw numbers on the gpu or fpu of the units though i'm sure you could find some with a bit of searching (google, bing or yahoo).

I have a transformer simply because I can load videos onto a couple of sdhc cards and plug em as needed. Try that with an ipad2 (then again that wasn't your stated objective).

After seeing the two tablets side by side, i can’t say that they are very different in terms of specs. It all depends on which software you prefer, how much portability you want from a tablet, and, of course, which one will be more affordable.

I'm hardly one to care that much about specs. If it's fast, it's fast . And i'm not left wanting for more speed when switching screens, moving icons, etc. Still, I keep in mind what a reviewer said, that someone with Xoom should never pick up an iPad 2. Still, if they all play 1080p just fine and pinch to zoom is working fast for me (one vid of the TF had lag there) I'm willing to blame the slight lag here and there on HC itself and that as it's updated, things will get better.

The reason I didn't get an iPad was that I wanted both USB ports and a full-sized SD card slot. I have most of my photography magazines and manuals (in PDF) on five 8Gb cards and loads of FLAC music files.

I know. But i also do know that it might be coming out soon. P0isixninja challenged geohot for dump of ipad 2 and geohot accepted. So who knows? It could come out tomorrow or next week and so on. And there are ways to get free apps w/o jailbreak. Just search on youtube. =D. Apple always seem to get all the accesories? Did i spell that right?

The transformer is better. I've seen two reviews that compare them.transformer comes out on top on both. Even jon4laker's review proves that. Theres nothing the ipad beats the transformer in except for a few useless fart apps.

Oh did I mention the better screen on the transformer and the actual multitasking?

I think what should be asked is. What can the Transformer do that the iPad2 can't.

Since last year, i'vefound my android tablet to be a lot more useful than my iPod. It's not just the size difference, but way the apps work and file system just is just beyond what the concept behind iOS can achieve. None of that has changed with the iPad2.

iPad 2 = Faster CPU and Camera... but none of that actually adds to the device's usefulness does it? Is the bluetooth still crippled? Can you access your files now? Can you exchange data with your other devices? Can you go to someone's house and get his media files?

Wifi does not exist the moment you step out of your house.
SD Cards work everywhere (Phones, Laptops, Tablets, PMPs, Cameras, etc.)
USB works everywhere (Phones, Laptops, Cameras... you get the idea) Though, admittedly, this is where the Transformer also falls flat, but it's standard on all other android tablets.
Bluetooth works everywhere (blah blah blah)

iTunes is not everywhere. You only have it if you have an iOS device, and not everyone has one... which means it practically non-existent if you live outside the US.

1. I haven't noticed any difference between multitasking on my a500 and 'multitasking' on my iPhone. I do like HC's software app switcher more than my iPhone's though, which I fear will wear out easily one day.

2. Just watched jon4lakers review, the speed part at least, and it was pretty equal, as he said.

3. 'Better' is subjective, as it should be. And for a 'heavy gamer', I think the iPad 2 has a bit more to offer than someone who really just wants an integrated tablet/keyboard solution made by a competent company.

I had the OG Ipad and I just ordered the transformer, so I'll give you some insight on how they stack up in my eyes.

I personally prefer the android system, just because the customization and usability of it. On the ipad, you have one general layout and that's it. On an android tablet, there are a ton of different ways one can set up their tablet to make it the best user experience for their own personal needs. Between widgets, multi tasking, and customization, I feel like Android tablets are the better buy, but that's just my personal opinion.

The ipad might have more stability, but I think that's partially in part of the fact that is has less to account for. On an ipad, you have apps, that's it, pages of apps. On an Android tablet, your screen set up allows for variation.

imo tablets aren't something I would sell back. The Ipad 2 might have great resale value, but the thing about Ipads are they get out of date real quick and selling it back every year just to get a new one isn't worth the $100 or so I would lose selling it. That goes with anything apple. I paid $400 for my transformer, and I plan on using it for a couple years to make it real worth while.

Yea thats true. I'm not saying being out of date doesnt apply to these tablets. I'm just commenting on Texter's statement on the Ipad's resale value. He was saying "Play now and play later without a huge loss of cash"

which I interpreted as he wants to buy now and resell to buy later with the Ipads. Apple's known for being quick on changing its line up, like u said a year in between. The macbook pro actually sometimes gets 2 updates in a year. My comment just to say that selling and rebuying anything computer-wise that fast isnt the best idea.

Android tablet-13 yr old younger brother. Its starting to go through puberty and changes occurs. Still a while before he matures and shows its true colors. And bipolar. =P
