Help Should my Desire replace my iPod Touch

I have an ipod touch 4g 64gb and the only thing i really do is listen to music. I dont game really. I audio quality is okay and i havent really experimented with the audio quality on the desire. How is it?? Comparable. I dont worry about storage. Should I sell my touch? I dont really use it anymore.

both are different device of different tastes .... u cannot have IPOD like experience on ur DESIRE (my opinion)....well what u can do buy a good Headphones for your desire.. if u really want some money by selling ur IPOD

You are in EXACTLY the same position as I am. I have an iPod touch 4G 64GB (The most expensive, best one lol) and all I use it for is music as i have my Desire for everything else... See I got the iPod before i knew I was going to get a Desire 3 months later :L

I like to use the iPod for music because im not using extra battery on my phone, its more organised with iTunes and i have that massive 64GB space!!

Sure i could get by just using my Desire for everything and I could make money selling my iPod in the process but i'm pretty happy with how I am now.

I would say the Desire is easily comparable for music and video. You have a much bigger choice of music players (as in the app) to choose from, compared to the 1 allowed on ipod touches.

As far as I can see, there are only 2 disadvantages.

1. You will go through a large chunk of the Desire's battery
2. You don't have the luxury of an all in one music store and syncing software (i.e. itunes).

Not having itunes is an advantage. Sorry but that software is the devil, rasterised.

Even if I used an iproduct, I would use one of the itunes alternatives avaialble.

It is tediously slow, and a complete resource hog yes.

But at the end of the day, I don't see how you can argue it doesn't offer a pretty complete package. From that one program, I can buy games, music, videos and tv shows, organise them, sync them to my phone, do updates and backup the entire phone.

I prefer the likes of google's email and calendars and contacts. But currently - I'm buying from iTunes, organising in itunes, syncing using iSyncr, apps via market, backup via market apps / nandroid etc. It's more hassle.

Coming from iOS, it's quite a difference. I prefer android, but I do miss iTunes.

So how do you manage all your stuff then? I also really like that it has access to that gracenote thing, so it will pull id3 tags and album art etc.

Well I get my music from lot's of different places. If I were to put it straight onto my desire, it would be missing track information, album art, not in playlists etc. Plus, my music collection is about 10GB. I never put it all on at once, so I make playlists and sync them.

A lot of my music collection is very underground and using an application to automate id3 tags etc just ends up putting crap in there, incorrect album art etc, track names from incorrect albums. This must be done manually.

I put music on any portable device by drag and drop.

I hate iTunes too. But for the time being, it does offer me the *easiest* solution. I really thought doubletwist would be my solution, but its not very good.

And then "music beta by google" came along. Not only is it only available in the US, I can't see it working very well for me. I have an upload speed of about 0.38mbps (although download is fine at 7-8), which I can't see making the whole experience very fun. I'll try it though!

i agree itunes is one of the reasons when my ipod broke in warranty and apple then refused to fix it, i didnt buy i new one. i like the device hated itunes, my desire is now my mp4/mp3 player,
i dont have an issue with battery life as im used to having to charge my phone every night

My desire replaced my iPod touch which was only an 8 gb. I gave it to my dad cause he has a crappy Samsung instict (will get an android phone when his contract is up). I don't find music playing in he background to be a big battery drain. I can still get through a whole day even playing music most of it (headphones only obviously) . I organize my music into folders by artist and that's it. Good enough for me.
