Hi everyone, this is my first ever post so please feel free to correct me wherever and add constructive criticism.
So as many people before have posted, there is no way to root an android phone with the OTA 2.2 update (as far as I know).
Well after lots and lots of reading I have managed to confuse my self into a circle.
I am looking to root my HTC Aria purely for the purpose of being able to remove system apps such as plurk, footprints, stocks and twitter etc. But I have read that there is a way to root froyo phones if they have version 1.72 (or whatever, I'm not really sure) or below. (is that the HBOOT version??)
Also that they need to have a S-off to perform a permroot through VISIONary r14 or similar programs. From what I understand that is utilising the rageagainstthecage exploit which I have been led to believe will not work on the OTA version of 2.2. Just to be clear, I am talking about 2.2 not 2.2.1
So if anyone could help it would be very much appreciated.
Here are the factors that I believe are the ones that need to be correct to root.
Android Version - 2.2
Kernel Version - 2.6.32.21-g9c9b792
htc-kernel@and18-2 #1
Bulid Number - 2.37.708.5 CL279279 release-keys
LIBERTY PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-1.02.0000
