And with single core processor (1GHz to 1.5 GHz), don't want another "handheld" laptop with dual-core (Too much power unneeded and to feel like having an actual phone), and to cut costs of the device. :D

Now I wonder if HTC gonna make that happen in the near future...

HTC Sensation is so enormous and has dual-core!

HTC is making the claim that the Sense 3.0 interface will only be officially used on dual-core devices. So, you're either going to need an Incredible S/2 with a custom ROM (increasingly unlikely as developers are quickly avoiding it due to no software root), or wait for next year's revision of the Desire/Incredible.

Original Incredible owners should see that device around the time their 2-year contract expires.

But their claim isn't backed up well, look at HTC Flyer, it has single-core 1.5GHz processor and yet it process an even heavier version of Sense 3.0.

On the other hand, I'm not sure about custom rom UI, do they work as good as the official UI?

Because I am not into rooting, prefer to keep my device without much tinkering around it.

htc kingdom coming to sprint. oh and its single core with sense 3.0...
4" qhd-1.2 ghz-possible world phone

Prefer Unlocked device, but isn't the Kingdom a refreshed version of HTC Incredible S? they look exactly the same.

I may have misunderstood HTC's statement, but they did state that it would only show up on new devices (they specifically mentioned devices like the Thunderbolt NOT getting it) due to hardware requirements.

ROM developers have already showed that the 2nd gen 1ghz Snapdragon devices can run it. A lot of it is GPU intensive, so that may or may not remove 1st gen Snapdragon devices. However, as for official ports, HTC made their comments regardless of whether or not we agree.

They said it'll show in new devices, the question arise here:

Will a low-end new phone be able to run Sense 3.0 fully?

I believe it'll run only some features of it not all.

And it'll probably gonna suck lots of battery live for how GPU intensive it is (the Sense UI that is).

I believe HTC's remark dealt specifically with smartphones.

They also said, some features will be incorporated into phones with lower specifications (Those with single-core processors, weaker GPU etc,)

Oh yes... quite often even better than the official ROM! :)

If the Incredible S was Unibody... I'd buy it in a heartbeat and install a custom ROM (If that's possible?).

Going to wait a bit more for my dream device, hopefully HTC will release a similar one soon. :D

You got it right. HTC stated that specific phones will get Sense 3.0, while legacy and other non dual-core devices will get elements of 3.0. Unfortunately, some journalists are reporting this as "Phone X will have Sense 3.0!"

I'm done with HTC if they are gonna keep locking done the phones.

XDA developers gonna figure out how to unlock them. :D

Not HTC, but take a look at the Droid Charge.

Tried SE X10 after buying my HTC Legend by 3 months, but didn't like it, so switched back to Legend and oh boy such different in the hardware and the UI.

After that, I vowed never to buy any smartphone other than HTC.

"Phone X will have Sense 3.0!" didn't understand this sentence, please rephrase it! :D

I think phones like the HTC Lead and HTC Kingdom --- single core with Sense 3.0 --- are only going to be carrier specials. Meaning it's not for general distribution but only as a custom carrier piece. This is much in the same way as the Droid Charge (formerly Samsung Inspiration) and the Samsung Infuse are carrier specials which you're not going to see as a main line distribution item.

HTC's main line distribution item appears to be the HTC Sensation, much like Samsung's main line distribution item is the Galaxy SII. The main lines are clearly going the dual core based.

Think of it this way. The volume manufacturing economics on dual cores are coming down to a point there is no significant economic advantage of using a single core. Even if you don't use the dual core to its full ability and the extra power is redundant that extra power is not being charged upon you for extra cost. So you might as well get it.

X = any phone. So, when the media comes out and says something like "The HTC Thunderbolt will get Sense 3.0," they're actually wrong. The Thunderbolt and many other phones will be getting elements of 3.0, but not the full experience.

Never believe the media, especially mainstream one.

Best thing is to check about what XDA guys can do, and to a lesser degree HTC (as they announce for example older devices can't run HTC Sense 3.0 (for marketing reasons for newer, dual-core devices), but after their dual-cores sells well, they announce that they can include Sense UI 3.0 on devices with at least 1Ghz single-core processors.

That's what I am predicting. :D

Whatever, I think some experts can run Sense3.0 in all of HTC mobiles.

XDA guys/gals are the one! :D

I agree with what you have said to some extent.

But, I still believe lower-end smartphones lines (Wildfire for example for HTC) will still use single-core processors for the next few years (next couple of years that is) if you can check the pattern of HTC phone released from high-end to low-end specs.

One problem with dual-cores that are released and to be released, is that most of their screen size are 4.3, which makes the phone too big for using one-handed (for small and average hands, like mine).

Hopefully I'll see a 4 inch HTC device other than Incredible S (Unlocked one that is). :D

You're misunderstanding me completely, but that's not your fault. It may be that I'm poor at clarifying. I never, not EVER, said that today's phones cannot run Sense 3.0. I simply repeated HTC's stance that the official releases will only come to the phones that they specify. HTC's stance is that their dual-core phones will get the full Sense 3.0, and the existing and future single-core phones will get elements of Sense 3.0 based on what they can handle in terms of hardware. This means that newer phones will get more features. Also, I never once bought HTC's stance that it was a hardware limitation.

Again, I'm referring to official releases. You know that some of us will be playing with these releases and porting features over :)

Also, I'm one of the XDA Guys :)

Say you're a XDA geek from the beginning! :D

I still don't see any point of older, 1Ghz devices not getting a fully functional Sense 3.0 official port, since I didn't see anything so "special" that only works on dual-core (for example the 3D effect when you change the home screens, because 1Ghz devices can run much more demanding 3D games smoothly, so it should not have such problem with this).

But you're a developer and you should now much more than me, as I am an average consumer. :D

In the end, I might buy me HTC Sensation and just get used to it's large screen size, as the only option of a Unibody phone under it is the Desire S, which packs a little 3.7 for my fatty fingers. :D
