Sorry but I almost died laughing, the famous iPhone is... last.
As for not buying Nividia's sh!t... thats your opinion and without any legit reasons don't bother saying anything.
OK, well let me explain my legit reason(s) & please let me know if you approve of them.
1) My first laptop: Dell Inspiron 5100, came from manf. with Nvidia FX5200 installed (payed extra for it). Right out of the box, the graphics were choppy and less than 48 hrs from receipt, I was on the phone with Dell Tech Support because the LCD stopped working. They sent 2 cards first a replacement Nvidia which lasted all of a week before the same problem arose, then the technician installed the second replacement, which was an ATI Mobility Raedon. I had no problems with the laptop after that; still have it, still use it...problem solved.
2) My bosses laptop: an HP Pavilion TX model with an Nvidia MPU...that's media processing unit...installed. He had trouble with his laptop for years and asked me to look at it after multiple system crashes. I couldn't find anything wrong with the OS no matter how many reinstalls I did. I finally took it to a friend who is a reliable hardware repair tech, and he later on informed us that there was an issue with part of the latop's motherboard (the MPU) that was also causing problems on Apple and Dell laptops with the same hardware installed. My boss ended up getting another new laptop with out anything Nvidia inside...problem solved!
3) My sister desktop: I bought my sister a Dell Dimension 4700 as a wedding present without realizing it came with an Nvidia GeForce 8400 (preinstalled from the outlet). The system constanly had display problems and was prone to overheating, which was quite a feat for a desktop. The system overheated so badly one time that the hard drive failed and could not be recovered. Dell still replaced the bad hard drive, and the on-site technician noticed the make and model of the video card and called in for a replacement to an ATI card. They sent out an ATI x600, which was only offered as a defective replacement for the stock Nvidia, but 6 years later and that desktop is still running strong...problem solved!
4) We finally come to the last and greatest Nvidia migraine: My old Dell XPS M1710 with its Nvidia GeForce 7900 GS. For the first 4 months I had this system, it was pure nirvana. Then hell hath no fury: daily overheating, BSDO's 6-7 times a week. Dell replaced the card and motherboard and processor at least 3 times a piece over a 3 year period, as well as replacing the LCD once and the RAM twice. I finally got a postcard in the mail regarding a lawsuit against Nvidia for selling defective GPU's to Dell and other comp. manfs. I was included in this class action because of my M1710. Two more months of repairs and I finally give Dell enough hell over all of this and they give me a system exchange and replace my M1710 with an Alienware m17x with an ATI 5850 XFire cards. So awesome and I've had no video problems with it yet...problem solved!
So if you lost count, there were FOUR separate systems from TWO different manufacturers that had problems and the only commonality was...wait for it...their Nvidia cards! Now maybe there could have been some other underlying cause that instigated all of these comp. problems, but with so many different technicians finding problems within the same brand components time and again, its hard to believe it was anything but Nvidia's fault; you know that old saying,"If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck..."
