Help deleting pre-installed icons on home screen

Thanks for trying to help, but I mentioned in my original message that that doesn't work.... I know its supposed to - but it doesn't. Trash can even goes red when I place the icon over it. Doh!! Anyone else with any suggestions????
It's probably bloatware they don't want you to get rid of. You'll probably have to root your phone to delete it.

Bummer. I'm in Australia. I'm still getting used to it. Its really annoying how the home screen is filled with a stack of uninstalled icons that I don't want to install (they are mostly games and bizarre stuff), but I can't get rid of the icons. Grrrr!!! Also, because its so new, I can't get a cover for it, although aparently the Desire covers will fit.

You might try posting your question in the Android Lounge section where more people will see it. I could be wrong. (though highly unlikely lol). ;)

*edit* the Desire doesn't look as rounded on the top and bottom like the x5. I don't see how a Desire case would fit.

What about just moving it sideways to one of the other sides in the "home" windows? Do like when you want to trash it, but then drag it to the edge of the window, and when you got it over the next page, drop it there. Moved some icons there my selfe, a little tricky to get the next page to open, but worked.

You can very easily root with the Z4root app. Just install it and press permanent root (doesn't seem to work with temporary) and then install SuperUser and at last install Root Uninstaller to remove apps.

Hi, I,m new to all of this, (71 year old). Ideos x5, z4root, successful, SuperUser installed, Root Explorer installed, can find the required files as above to delete, but they are read only, can't change to read/write.
Can anyone help with easy instructions please. :)
