Root Absolutely Abysmal Battery Life

I posted a thread on here a little while ago about the bad battery life I was getting while running the Radio Leak v2 with Das BAMF Remix 1.5. I mean..it was bad. But now it has gotten even worse. Sunday morning, I unplugged my phone at 9:45 AM. I sent two text messages in the process and used the Maps app to find directions somewhere (not using GPS. I manually entered both addresses). I had Maps open for about 20 minutes. By noon, I was dead. I mean, completely dead. And it has been just as bad today. It started getting worse a few days ago and now it has reached a level that is just unberable and unacceptable.

I have a profile on SetCPU at 245 or 254 (forget which) mhz while the screen is off.

This battery life is just...horrendous. What can I do to fix it? I have been using Android phones for a long time and have never experienced something like this.

I hate to say this because i said i wouldnt hate but you do have a thunderbolt..a huge phone with a small battery i have the droid charge smaller phone bigger and better battery..you should of made the switch to the droid charge...but if anything just get the bigger battery or dwnload the LTEONOFF from the market and roll on 3G until you need 4G...

Something is wrong with the phone.

I have had pretty decent battery life (I came from an Incredible) and the last few days have been nightmares for me. Losing 65% in about 3 hours OF NOT USING THE PHONE, followed by losing another 20% in the next hour... with it just sitting. The day before that phone went from 100 to zero in the course of a couple hours. I had to plug it in to even get the thing to power on.

There is an obvious issue, as others have expressed similar things the last few days. I'd wait it out a bit.

I wish I could get my hands on the extended battery, but that bastard is out of stock constantly.

No offense, but this post is useless. To suggest downgrading (IMO) to a different phone becasue it has a "bigger and better" battery without troubleshooting and/or getting/trying a referb is preposterous.

Anyways, OP, which kernel are you using on remix 1.5? Sometimes the screen off profile can be counter intuitive if the kernel is already undervolted with the screen off. I would recommended trying one of Imoseyon's sense kernels, they are absolutely fantastic.

You could also try charging to 100%, boot to recovery and wipe battery stats then fully discharge and repeat again. Are you in an LTE area, or on the fringe? The LTE radio constantly polling trying to attain a strong signal would definitely kill a battery as quick as you experienced

I am using whatever kernel came with Remix 1.5. I didn't change that at all once I downloaded it and flashed it. I will go wipe the batt stat for sure. And I live in the middle of a strong LTE area (just outside downtown LA).

I have noticed that maybe once a week, sometimes every other week (been less frequent since flashing remix 1.6.3), i notice my battery draining at an alarming rate, similar to what you've described, while idle. To fix this I restart the phone. Not "shut down" as this just activates the quickboot, but "restart". This closes all apps and clears cache. Afterwords, battery returns to normal ie about 12 hours on 3g and about 8 on 4g, with moderate use. I know restarting is a PITA, but until a fix is implemented (come on Gingerbread!!!), this is the best solution. Hope this helps!

Well to each his own because owning the TB was downgrading for me IMO..obviously some people like a better battery rather than a quadrent score...because while the TB can run a nice quadrent score(and take up 30% of the battery while doing it) the DC can run a decent score and take up about 2% of battery life..but to each his own.

I am using the same as the OP....BAMF Remix 1.5. The Kernal that came with it and all. My battery life isn't near as bad. Unplugged at 9:40 AM and it's now 4:07 PM and I'm at 78% with minimal to average use (text messages and a couple games...). Granted, I'm only on 3G, but I'd say just a few hours of battery time is much worse than what it should be. Do you have anything maybe constantly using that 4G data?

Dude download Lte OnOff and keep ur phone on 3g unless ur downloading or streaming anything..alos dim ur screen and maybe lay off the oc'n a bit...also u can try another kernel i like imoseyn's kernels they have remarkable battery life...$g is a batt killer for sure no matter what phone u have ive cn reviews about the charge havn bad battery life as well the G2X, and havn a bigger screen doesnt help it takes more juice to light it up way more than say an O.G. Droid or sumthn wit a lil screen...wit all the adjustments i suggested im gettn anywhere from 10 to 12 hrs wit normal to heavy use...i can go from 6 a.m. when i wake up till 6 p.m. when im outa work to charge but depends in how heavy the use.

I've been using the perfect storm w/ v2 radio for about 3 weeks. I am using the extended batt 2750. About four times, i have found my TB battery draining incredibly fast and the battery becoming warmer as the power drained. I have minimized sync, closed apps, and wiped batt. The only thing I have found to stop this is to pull the battery. Once I boot back up, the power drain is slow and the battery cools off. I didn't have this problem until I updated the radio to V2.

Maybe you should flash a different kernel. I'm running the Bamf Stripped 1.1 Rom and flashed the Control Freak 2.0 kernel from Adrynalyne(his stock voltages and all, I haven't edited them myself). I've been off the charger for 14 hours, with 5 hours of awake time and oc'd to 1.2ghz today and I still have 28% battery left.

Should mention I do have the 1700mah battery from htcexpress, but I was getting similar results with original battery as well.
