Hello everyone :)

In my previous thread, I decided on a phone. (Thank you so much for the people who helped!)

But recently I have come into a dilemma. I'm 50/50 of either getting a Desire HD or an iPhone 4. Now I know this is an android forum, but can you tell me why I should get a Desire HD instead of an iPhone 4? Only informative replies please. I asked in the local iPhone forum and all I got was, i kid you not "O.M.G! GET AN IPHONE ITS SO MUUUUUCCH BETTER" or praising the iPhone without so much evidence to back it up.

Yes, I did research on it. But I am still in the middle.

Here's what I got so far (I'll will add more as soon as people add more info)

+DHD

Bigger screen
Better customization
Removable battery
HTC Sense
Gingerbread update (5/18)

-DHD
No front facing camera
Battery life
Bad audio

+iPhone
Better screen
Better quality pictures and video

-iPhone
No removable battery
Needs to be jailbroken
Lots of restrictions (5/8)

I would really appreciate it if I can get feedback if anyone has both the Desire HD and iPhone 4.

Thank you all!! I am sorry if I bother anyone with this.

Put it this way.. The DHD being Android does much more than the iPhone 4... But the iPhone 4 is better at what it does. It really comes down to what you like and what's best for you but I will always go for Android over iPhone so I would say hands down get the Desire HD!!

Think of the DHD being jack of all trades master of none and the iPhone 4 at being the master of linearity and holding your hand if your the type of person thats afraid to mess about on a computer for fear of it "breaking".

Speaking of breaking, is the antenna problem and all the other problem is solved? I did not add that because I am not sure it is going on.

Thank you for your post but mostly I will use the phone right out of the box, I will not root it or customize it, except for aesthetic purposes, of course.

Is the quality of the audio bad on the DHD? I can't play with the DHD because 1) It hard to find one and 2)You can only open the box when you will buy it.

Also the quality of the pictures is only good when looking at the iPhone's screen. Lets say you took the same picture with the DHD and the iPhone, on screen the iPhone pic has the better quality but when you view them lets say in a computer, the photo is better on the DHD.

I am sorry for asking this, you might not know. But on the iPhone forums nobody has the time to reply me :(

I heard that you can only bluetooth to headphones?

Also when I want a video from a friend, she said that only other iPhones can share videos and pictures. Is that true?

bluetooth can work with your car speakers also and not sure what else..

if you use mms you can send videos or pics to any phone... you just cant bluetooth them...

also you can video call free from iphone to any other video phone free on wifi or with jailbreak 3g as well and computer to iphone video calls.

Here is a reply I got from the iPhone forum. Can you bluetooth MMS and other stuff to other phones? And I know video call works in DHD, not FaceTime of course. Sorry for being a bother.

Yeah, you can bluetooth stuff to other phones with the DHD.

You also asked about audio quality on the DHD. The external speaker on the handset itself is pretty poor. The recent Android 2.3 has made it better, but it's still not fantastic. If you use headphones or external speakers, it's fine though.

Call quality is acceptable too, I only have issues with certain people in my phone book, but I put that down to the fact that the mic on their handsets isn't great either.

Can you go into a phone shop to try them out first before buying? Just the feel of a phone can be a huge deciding factor.
Now that the Gingerbread update is now out on Unbranded DHD the audio is now a bit louder but is still not spectacular. Amazing if you use headphones ALOT though :0) Plus the amount of apps available for free on the android market is a huge saving compared to the iStore... Although with apple, you know the apps and the iPhone is going to be excellent. The iPad 2 looks really appealing to me, but for a phone i think I would always choose Android and I may be a htc customer for life now ;)

Now withe gingerbread update the battery last a lot longer. The screen colour and display have improved, I believe there have been improvements to the native camera app. Saying that I still use camera 360 ultimate for my app as its better.

I had an iphone and left primarily because of apples/itunes restrictions on what you can do out of the box. Android is much more customizable and as for loading HQ pics to the phone, well you can. Whatever quality pic you upload to the phone is what is displayed. But with itunes it always optimizes it to what it wants and always ends up reducing quality.

Being able to connect to pc and see the HTC as a drive means you can sort out files and folders to where you want them.

I dunno I just like having more control over my phone. After all I own it not Apple.

Just my 2 cents. Now if apple change there game plan with the iPhone 8 I may go back, but until then Ill keep looking up for flying pigs.................

P.S. oh and the screen size is fabulous. Looking at the wife's screen I have to squint. Lol.

Thank you for your reply.

So, if I buy the phone now. I can just update the software automatically or do I have to follow some steps?

What about the GPS Problem?

It depends on whether you get an Unbranded DHD or a branded DHD.
Unbranded DHD will have the update available straight away because the Gingerbread update has just come out... (You'll need to click "check for system updates")
Branded DHD you will usually have to wait a few weeks/months after who ever your with decides to release it with their bloatware lol.
Ask whether or not if your devise is Unbranded when you are going to buy it.
(currently Vodaphone has released the upgrade before even htc did so Vodaphone is an exception in this case)

Branded means you have the network on the phone right? (Verizon, AT&T etc) in that case, I will have the unbranded one.

I think I might go with the DHD. Nobody in the iPhone forum even bothered to reply to my thread.

Thank you for the replies.

The audio using the standard music app is awesome with the ability to use SRS WOW and Dolby technologies. Makes things sounds incredible with my SkullCandy
