Root Help Epic 4g Help

Hello, I am fairly new to the site.

I am having extream problems trying to root and connect my usb device up to my computer. I went to the sprint store yesterday and they told me in Froyo you cant usb connect you can just use the adapter. If this is true how do I root my phone with just the adapter. Also why everytime I plug in the Epic it says device not recongnized. So I am asking help on how to root my phone and how to root it with just the adapter or if there is a way I can get my usb connected to my computer that way.

I understand that sir. I just cant get my phone to USB Debugging cause it wont connect.

USB Debugging" under Applications->Development and connect the Epic to your pc, pull down the notification screen and Mount the SD card by tapping:

"USB connected
Select to copy files to/from your computer"

are you using the original cable or third party? and also dont use the front usb on the computer use the rear. And also with using a 64bit system this is a known problem try using a 32bit system if possible.

Try this:
Unplug phone from computer
Uninstall the driver software.
Unplug anything that may be attached (For me, it was my SD card slot, and my other USB ports)
Reinstall the driver software
Then finally plug in your phone.

Thanks alot but its still not working I have uninstalled all the drivers for USB and then Windows reinstalled them and still dosnt work. I dont know what to do now. Bummers

weird...but my bro in law has the same phone but when he connects it to pc it shows up...just read this tho: Was having the same problem with the computer not recognizing the phone (running Win7 64 bit) and unplugging the USB and turning off the USB debugging did the trick. Plugged the USB back in and computer picked it up immediately.
