h symbol on my phone

Hey everyone, I've been in Italy for the past 4 months and so haven't used my captivate at all. Now that I'm back I've noticed an h for the data network, after some Googling I saw it was faster than 3g so I'm not complaining. My question was why my friend who has an iPhone 4 and has at&t doesn't get this. He's still on 3g. And another question is when this was rolled out, just wondering. Thanks guys

As far as I know the iphone 4 just doesn't have an H icon. It still can get Hspa but will only show the 3G icon.

Did you do the froyo update when you started using the phone again? I didn't get the H icon until after I did that update but then a few days after they finally released froyo I got an inspire so haven't used my captivate much since to pay any attention to the icons.

i didnt do the official update. i have cognition running so i do have froyo though. thanks for the help

yes, but there are several updates out, you probably have a very old version unless you updated recently

If I remember correctly, All Cog roms use an "H" icon instead of 3G when you are on 3G; and why the iPhone does not have the "H" icon. As far as I know the stock rom does not have an H but that may have changed since I got gave away my captivate; my Atrix for example does not have a 3G or 4G icon, just E, G and H+

I believe its just a just another symbol for 3g. Im running the windows 7 theme and the h replaces the 3g
