Sell me on getting an incredible.

Alright, I'll try to make this short and sweet. I'm on an LG Ally. Pretty much anything is better than that, yes? But here is my dilema. I'm torn between the Droid X and the Incredible. Here are the points I am Torn at

Incredible Pro's (that are why i like it)

• It's completely open to modding! (cyanogen Mod and custom Kernals)
• It's more compact
• The display is beautiful
• From what I've read, HTC's Support is pretty good. (though i dont have a clue)

Droid X's Pro's (over the incredible)

• Superior Microphone setup ( Both in quality and that it has 3)
• Larger screen thats easier to read ( even though it is pretty big)
• Video Quality is also superior
• HDMI out (although who knows if i'll use it day to day)
• Battery Life is better

Why should I choose an Incredible over a droid x in your opinion? And please don't direct me to buy a thunderbolt or droid X 2. I'm looking for a Tested phone that isnt $200.

Superior Microphone setup ( Both in quality and that it has 3) Um, it doesn't have 3 mics, and the quality is about the same when I use my friends Droid X.
Larger screen thats easier to read ( even though it is pretty big) Personal preference.
Video Quality is also superior What videos are you looking at?
HDMI out (although who knows if i'll use it day to day) Personal preference/need.
Battery Life is better My friend's Droid X dies out several hours before my Incredible does (granted I have several battery saving profiles in Tasker running).

(Now granted in this video, the incredible doesnt have 2.2, thus no 720p... BUT, the microphone quality, whether it be the codec or mic itself, sounds terrible)

i wouldnt get either. both theses phones are a year old. why not consider the dx2 or inc2 or the tb? all superior to the over one year old inc and the x. my 2 cents.

I'm Looking for a phone around $100 thats is better than the Ally by far. I dont need the shiny new phone, and I'm not paying 100-200 dollars more for a new phone with dual core processors that I dont need. I'm not being offensive. I'm simply saying I know what I'm looking for, and these are my choices.

The comparison may be moot. By now, the Droid Incredible is probably unavailable except as a used or refurb unit. It has been replaced by the Incredible 2.

great dev support; easy to root-unroot, s-off/s-on and solid phone. i upgraded to inc2 and root will prolly never come.

What has pleasantly surprised me about the Inc is that even after a year since release, it's really not that far behind many of the new phones being released now and doesn't seem dated. In general, people I know with the Inc do not seem in any rush to upgrade to the latest-and-greatest, which has not been the case in the past.

The last phone with this kind of "staying power" that I can remember not feeling fairly obsolete a year after release was the original RAZR V3.

One year old and still "right-on" baby. This phone was highly anticipated and still a secret as far as how good it really is. Very much satisfied with what I have. Check out which Android has the most posts on these forums. They are a reflection of something good. You won't be disappointed. Good luck finding one with an amoled screen though.

Guys not everyone is up for a new contract. A lot of us are in the middle of a new contract, so we buy a used phone to upgrade while we wait. I came from the eris, so the choice was a little eaiser for me.

It really comes down to two things: Size and custom ROMs. The DroidX is larger, although a nicer package than the EVO, IMO. I like to put my phone in my pocket, so a large phone is more annoying to me, Motorola likes to brag that their phones are thin, but that really doesn't help in your pocket. Secondly if you want Cyanogenmod or Sense, the Incredible is the only way to go.

Personally I came from the Eris, and am impressed with the Incredible. The larger screen is nice, but the best parts are the fast processor and the camera. Quality seems good, although the coating isn't as durable looking as the Eris. Overall I don't think you'd be unhappy with the DINC.

I think I can pitch in since I just traded my Droid X for Incredible.
I had Droid X since the launch and traded for Incredible. (Just want to try it)
I'm not going to get into pros and cons but here is what I like and dislike.
I like form factor of Incredible and how easy to use the widgets over droid x moto blur.
HTC sense is very easy to use and looks very nice. Even just a clock looks awsome.
I rooted Droid X and tried 4 different rom and none came close to feeling of sense.
I kind a like the bigger screen just for watching movies but Incredible screen seems sharper. It's like comparing old big screen TV vs new LED flat screen. smaller version. Your choice. I used HDMI TV out couple of times (couple of times in almost a year) its cool and gets WOW from my kids but it goes away after couple of times.
HTC sense feels much responsive than Moto blur. I hate stock theme. Had to buy Launcher Pro just to make it look and feels like HTC sense. Battery does last longer than Incredible for sure but I just bought a extended battery and it last much longer than Droid X now. Phone still feels similar. Android OS is all about the widgets. HTC stock widgets are far superior to Moto Blur widgets. Looks and feels much much better.
Many reviews claims Incredible has poor reception but I feel they are same as Droid X.
Incredible is lighter and much more mobile than Droid X. Couple of thing is better than Incredible. 1. Droid X is built like a tank. Feels tough and should last until you get sick and tire of looking at it. 2. Stock battery is better. Other than these two I think Incredible has an edge over Droid X.
I haven't try to root the Incredible yet, I don't think I will. Only reason I rooted Droid X was just for the themes. I didn't see any increased of speed over stock. What slows down was the Moto Blur.
They both are great phone, I don't think you can go wrong with either one of them. Just make sure if you do get a Droid X, get a Launcher Pro or ADW. A Must!!
If you do get a Incredible Extended Battery is a must !! Everything else is a personal choice.

i've gotten 40 hours off of a single charge on my incredible. thats with moderate use AND taking pictures at a concert. while those newer phones do have more RAM, the hertz difference between the processors is minimal. i compared my phone side by side with a thunderbolt and incredible 2 (i work at best buy), and even with the junk that i have on my incredible it was still equally as responsive.

the same "720p" recording as newer devices
AND ITS FREE WITH ACTIVATION

incredible is still the way to go.

Ill still take the Incredible 1 over both those phones.

X is too bulky, and to laggy compared to the Inc.
I hate having hardware buttons on the front of an otherwise all touch screen phone (with the exception of the side volume keys and power button), so the X loses there.
I LOVE, I mean absolutely LOVE the optical trackball on the Inc. If you've never had one, you don't know what you're missing, but they are handier than sliced bread, and once you have used a phone with a good trackball for a while, you won't want a phone without one. And the optical is even better than traditional trackballs, because it is much smoother and doesn't get full of lint and break.

There are probably other reasons, but those jump out at me.
Some friends of mine, the wife has an Inc and the husband has an X. The husband wishes he had gotten the Inc instead.

Well, that's not me -- but I can say that I would gladly give some positive feedback on the Incredible. I have close to one year of experience with this device and there is not much that I can complain about.
