Root texts missing in GB

I thought there was a GB issues thread but I can't seem to find it so here we go.

Has anyone else had issues with their text messages going missing? I am running the deodexed 595 leak and a couple times a day I will get a notification that I got a text. I can read it in the notification drop down but when I go into my sms app it is missing. Sometimes they are just out of order but a lot of times they are just gone somewhere.

I have this issue with handcent, gosms and the stock text messaging program which makes me think it is an issue with the stock sms app since that is what feeds the other two. There was some suggestion that AutoKiller might have something to do with it so I took that off a couple days ago and while it seems to have cut down on the amount of messages that go missing it didn't resolve it completely.

It is getting really frustrating, has anyone seen this issue and have a fix for it?

I have never seen this before. I do get a glitch where it will leave words in the texting field as though I typed something but never sent it. I'm thinking it may be my keyboard theme not playing nice with GB.

A lot of issues can be taken care of with a data/cache wipe. Did you try this? You could also try wiping your dalvic cache too.

I like my apps though. :( I guess I can use titanium and hope for the best.

wiping data does, try just clearing the cache, or go into the applications and clear the cache within the sms text message application (whatever it is) and reboot the phone, and start asking people to text you to test it out

I was thinking about doing this as well. Taking a titanium backup of all my apps now just to have it then I'm going to give it a shot. the weird thing is it isn't every message, it is only 3-4 a day it seems.

edit: Cleared data for both the default app and gosms, I'm going to restart and hope for the best.

hows it workin?

So far so good but during the day is when I usually have the most issues because I text way more at work then I do at home. lol

I also cleared the cache partition via CWR. I also noticed that before I cleared the cache I was missing an icon in the status bar and I couldn't figure out what it was. It was the BT icon..... I wonder if something in the cache was really hosed.

it is a very good posibility, alot of information runs through the android devices daily, by everything you do, as far as text, emails, web services, and your apps, its only natural that there is clutter.

regardless i hope it works out well for you, i have no signal in my office at work, so i have airplane mode on all day, but when i go onto the floors, i get massive amounts of texts usually so i know what you mean texting more from work than at home lol

No good. Was sitting on lunch playing chuzzle. Phone vibrates indicating a text message. I go to look and it is gone.

I seem to have found this one though. the timestamp put it at 8:30 am it is now 2pm. hmmmmmmm only seems to have done that in goSms, time to start looking through the settings.

This is still further along than I was. Before messages were just going away in the stock and add on applications, now it is just reordering for some reason

try uninstalling gosms, and stick with the stock messaging app for now, its possible they are both colliding each other and refusing text messages to appear, just a possibility

I think it is because GoSMS is trying to change the timestamp because of the issues on the DX a while ago. I'm not a big fan of the stock sms app but I guess it is better than out of order messages for now. I sent them an email a few days ago and they still haven't replied.

well, not many people like the stock sms app, but in all honesty, i dont see a problem with it, but that is me!

i prefer the stock msging app because i hate the double text you would get, i remember i had popup sms, and i tell ya, big mistake for me, cause numerous problems, but that was just my phone, i got used to the stock sms app, i dont like the GB keyboard so much, it just seems smaller, but i will see what i can do about getting the original back :)

If you turn off notifications in the stock messing app you won't get double texts.

After reading many great recomendations for GoSMS, I gave it a try, and I had initially fixed the time stamp/out of order message issue, (there is a help file in the Settings menu on GoSMS that addresses this issue) but it apparently came back, and then I also missed (or lost) an important message from my son. Back to Handcent for me, and all seems well again.

I also had the timestamp issue fixed a while ago.

I was using GoSMS for about 2 months until this issue showed up. I think it was one of the recent updates that made everything so crazy.
