I want the atrix to be able to control my TV **TV has WIFI**

Like the title says. I've searched and searched but my google-fu is weak. I really want to be able to control my tv, specifically, the direct tv box with my atrix. I would be willing to pay a few bucks for it too. Is there an app for that?

I know someone else had this idea too. And I could have sworn I heard of a phone doing this but I just can't remember.

AFAIK unless your TV is equipped with Bluetooth or is connected to Wifi I don't think that would be possible. TV's generally use IR sensors to connect to their remotes and unless im mistaken the Atrix does not have an IR sensor.

But I would be interested to hear if anyone knows otherwise. I'll bump this post.

My tv has wifi!! its a vizio xvt or something. It has wifi and internet apps. I can't check my email on it, but I got pandora for it. I figured it wouldn't work, but I just had to ask.

Just for others who might be looking, the direct tv box needs to be hooked up to the internet. Either directly wired to your home internet or through a wireless adapter. D tv wanted $84 to buy the wireless adapter. So it is possible.
