I'm having a situation.

Just went down to the local Berizon and played with the DC. The screen on this thing was BEAutiful hands down better than any screen which is very good. As of right now i have a DX running 2.3.3 and its ******ed fast (at least i think so) and i love it to death, but i have been getting the new phone crave for the past couple weeks. So playing with the DC is making me really want a new phone. But.....i dont know if i should wait for something better because i am kinda impatient when i want something. The main reason i want the DC is for the screen and hopefully stayed grandfathered in to the 4gLTE package that would come with it, that would be awesome. But the lady couldnt tell me if that would roll over if i either outright bought a new phone or a new 2-year agreement. So im stuck right here wanting a little help deciding what to do. All opinions are welcome. Will the DC have many devs on it? Thanks guys for the help and reading the long post.

I doubt the DC will have many devs when the TB has a similar screen, better UI and from a better manufacturer, and has already grown a community of dozens of devs and different custom ROMs. It's why I think I'm returning my DC. The DX is plenty awesome, why upgrade now? Wait for dual core + LTE.

Sorry the Thunderbolt has been out for like 2 almost 3 months...the Droid Charge came out just last week.

I'm probably returning for the Xperia Play but the Droid Charge is an excellent phone...The best Android phone i HAVE used....From low end phones like a Droid Eris, Motorola Backflip to High End HTC EVO, Droid X, Droid Incredible etc.

To say it is not going to have a huge community...this early is not exactly a smart statement

I'd imagine the Galaxy S Developers will also want to work with this devices as they are very similar and you will see a lot of development.

The issues I've heard about the Thunderbolt vs the minor issues over the Charge....I say Charge wins.

And HTC being the better manufacture? That's funny

The ThunderBolt already had custom ROMs at this point in its life. The second it was rooted, someone did something. It's been a few days and the Charge forum is dead. The TB forum was booming before its release and this resulted in a giant dev community from the get-go.

If a phone doesn't have huge forum activity from the start, safe to say its dev community won't flourish. We'll get maybe 3 or 4 different ROMs. Not the dozen or so active ROMs you get at any time on the Droid, Evo, TB, etc. You should know this, you keep saying you've owned ~20 phones.

The TB has a notification LED. The idiots didn't put one on the Charge and that's just horrible.

The TB has a very good screen. The Charge beats it, but not by that much. SAMOLED+ and SLCD are comparable.

There are no issues with the TB, just people who don't know how to manage their battery properly. Everyone I know with a TB is very happy.

HTC most definitely is the best manufacturer out there; at least up until they started locking their bootloaders. Awesome build quality on those things and they always attract the most devs.

Im sorry but i agree with miss carmendiva and heavinly disagree with shadowdude..1st of all for you to automatically assume that the DC wont have many devs is just stupid..like you can tell the future..lol..2nd the TBs screen is nothing zero zilch compared to the DC thats like trying to match up 480p to 1080p..3rd battery life on both are uncompareable TB=5-6 hours DC=10-24hours...4th how can you say that htc is a better company? Their phones all look alike and samsung has been in the industry longer and their smarter..oh and OMG no led for messages or notifications...if your that lazy to click the power button to see if u have a notification then you are just plain lazy...IMO to the person who started this thread if you want a great phone that has only little problems go with the DC its a great phone...if you want to be charging your fone 95% of the day then go with the TB.

The biggest drawback of Tbolt is horrible battery life. No one can deny this. It doesn't matter how good it is when you can't use it for full working day. Plus its 4G connectivity isn't any better than Charge though Verizon is mainly to blame for it. The SAMOLED+ beats SLCD by long shot when I saw them side by side at max brightness. The SCLD just can't match SAMOLED+ on brightness, contrast, color and viewing angle. SLCD on Tbolt doesn't look bad by itself though. The camera on Charge just blows Tbolt out of water. It's probably best right now if not better than SGSII.

The devs support stuff for Tbolt doesn't matter when its hardware is lacking so much on battery, screen, camera, HDMI, 4G issues.

It sounds like you should buy a TB if you are the type that needs to flash custom Roms every week. Im not. In fact I have never flashed a custom rom. I dont have the desire to do that. It seems like sense ui is a big selling point to the thunder bolt. Dont custom roms either make phone unstable or remove sense? If your into that then cool. But 99.9% of users just are not.

As far as screen.. SLCD may be better than lcd...but to act like its on par with Super amoled plus is just wrong. Anyone considering both phones should use them both side by side... Let your own eyes tell u.

With all these inputs its really tought to decide now. Seems like there are pros and cons on both phones. Might just have to say screw it and upgrade my DX to the DX2.

Same as when I told my friend to try something different when he wanted to get a Droid Incredible 2 and he currently owned a Droid Incredible(OG)
I wouldn't want to Spend money that is only slightly better than something i owned currently and looks nearly the same.

I'm like you. I would spend money to get the same phone with upgraded guts. Ive got an evo but will pass on the evo3d because its will still feel the same after a few days. Sure its dual core, higher res and 3d at times. But its still going to feel like an evo. And the evo isn't a bad phone at all. But a year of using any phone as much as I use my phone will cause boredom to set in.

That's why I don't even bother with HTC Phones anymore.

My Droid Eris was the First HTC phone I had that I think was a very unique design for them.

My HTC HD2 looks nearly the same as my HTC EVO which could have been mistaken for my HTC HD7.

HTC hardware does not impress me even though their specs are great....I'm a superficial person when it comes to phones lol. I don't care about what's on the inside if the outside does not look attractive and new

HTC honestly makes really nice hardware. They're also the only ones still putting the occasional trackball here and there which I kind of like. It can be very useful. Plus, they make the best physical keyboards (G2/Evo Shift).

HTC phones are generally good on outside body design, build quality. Their screen is not bad, but not the best out there. Really they only got external body design and sense UI going for them, which attracts many folks. But they mostly fail at getting basic parts of smart phone right like battery life, call quality, speaker performance, reliable reception, camera etc, which are not so apparent at first looks.

DC=10-24 From what i have read that is not the case 8-12 if that, still better then TB.

I have to say for Constantly shooting out text msg every few seconds, taking a mass amount of pictures, facebook, playing games constantly, listening to music while working out and phone calls....

This battery has held up for me for about 8 hours on FULL BRIGHTNESS or what have you...Better than ANY HTC PHONE(HTC HD7, EV0, Mytouch 4g, G2 etc) that i have owned previously
