Amazon App Store Thread - Daily Free Apps

can someone confirm if they are manually choosing which apps to put up for free or is there some RND system setup that randomly selects an app each time? They change every day around 1am MST so unless it is something they have chosen say a month in advance, it seems like it is fairly random (with exceptions to deals they sign, like with Angry Birds Rio, Chuzzle and the upcoming Plants vs. Zombies on the 31st).

I agree with sonofaresiii though. Not all of the apps are going to be the "best" (nor should they) and not all of them appeal to every single person in the market either.

I had no problem getting the app this morning. It has become a morning ritual for me. Wake up, Get Ready, Check New App. I haven't played with it too much yet but I had no problem getting it this morning for free.

I'm just wondering, did the credit card you use for One-Click ordering expire? It might need a new credit card for One-Click ordering.

Not to sound like a newbie... (but I am) is this app safe to load on the phone? Do you need to keep the unknown source box checked? Not sure I like that idea.

The app is safe to load. Because the amazon app store application is not available in the standard market (and there is no reason it should be) the only way to install it is to have the Unknown Sources box checked. From what I have read on other forums you can uncheck it after you install an app from the amazon app but in order to get more apps or install updates you need to re-check the box.

I keep the Unknown sources box checked on my phone. I have installed a couple apps from outside the Market like Tasker and in order to get the updates I need it checked. I have not run in to a problem at all with my phone and leaving the box checked. I think it has been checked for well over a year now.

Anyone else having a problem "purchasing" today's "free" app - Tweetcaster Pro??? I've tried both through my phone's appstore and from my browser and both ways it asks me to add a credit card to my account. Is this happening to anyone else? Thanks.

Bulldog,

I had the same problem today. I got the message that I needed to set-up 1-click. I have set it up and everything works fine now.

Weird that for all this time and dozens of apps, I did not have to mess with it.

Little issue/annoyance I'm having with the Amazon App Store...wondering if anyone has felt the same way and has a workaround...

So you download ANY of the apps from Amazon (either a "free for the day" paid app or just a "regular" free app like the lite version of many apps to try) and decide, for whatever reason, you don't want to use it and uninstall from your phone or back it up for later use. In any event, it is off your phone.

HOWEVER, even if uninstalled from your phone it is still associated with your Amazon account online (and seen through your phone) as an app that you had previously downloaded and/or "purchased." Makes sense...but HERE is the PROBLEM...

I keep getting prompted to download or install or update the app that I NO LONGER WANT and have uninstalled from my phone. The unwanted app is sorta "in queue" with the other apps that I have purchased or I am using. So when I look at the list of "my apps" I have the ones that I want and use...but ALSO the ones I uninstalled and don't care about any more.

For example, I downloaded the free version of a skee ball game "Roller Lite." The PAID version then became available and I download that so that I, obviously, no longer need the Roller Lite version on my phone. I uninstalled the Lite version BUT the Amazon App Store ANNOYING still has it listed as an app associated with my phone.:(

Is there anyway to remove these uninstalled/unwanted apps from the general list of apps that you ever downloaded on your phone?? I would like it GONE from the list of apps...would rather NOT have to look through the list of my apps...next week...next month...next YEAR...have to scroll through junk and other unwanted stuff that I have uninstalled.

Thoughts?? Or am I kinda screwed at the moment with what I'm trying to accomplish because Amazon hasn't implemented some sort of installed/uninstalled "app filter" like I'm looking for?? THANKS!!
