I just got off the phone with Tmobile since my visual voicemail wasnt setup, and took the time to ask if they have any word on an update to their android line up. He said he just received an email today from up top that yes Tmobile is working with Google to provide an update to the Cliq, Behold II, and myTouch(Not sure if I heard G1 or not).

So the fact that the reps have gotten word of it makes me feel alot better about this. And his understanding was the Cliq would be first but the rest to follow not long after that.

Samsung announced this in video in early november. We know they are going to 2.0 the question is when. Also word on the street is the cliq won't get the update til march or april so if they are first the behold 2 has some bad news

When I ordered the myTouch today, the rep said something similar to what the OP stated. I believe all TMO handsets are going to recive an update, even the G1

When ... now that's another thing.

As long as we get it I got tired of waiting for the Behold update so I got the Behold 2

Man who are you telling, I got bamboozeled into buying that piece of crap with a data plan and the only update was an upgrade to 3D icons. I was so dissapointed with that phone but I was able to recoup my losses on Craigslist.

If news has filtered down to the reps, this is fantastic! Generally they are the last to know just prior to release. Let's hope this holds true for now!

Thats why I posted this, rumors are one thing, but when word reaches the reps, its good news. Sure its vague, but thats just normal corporate speak. Its like I've said in other threads. Tmo wants to line up an update for all its phones(and they have to test as well) before they release so to the average customer it just seems like a seamless update.

i just called and spoke to a rep and was told there is no official word on anything except the mytouch fender and the cliq. she also said an update was coming to the nexus soon, but it was maintenance only . i asked her to check her email and she did and replied that nothing new was sent to her. this sucks as a reg mytouch user cause she specifically said that only the fender was mentioned :(

I spoke with Samsung the other day and posted what they said about nothing new coming down the pike. But, that was a Tech and it is not always certain that the Techs get all of the 4-1-1. But when the rep's get an email, it's usually certain because they have to get ready to sell the item.

Now, that email is always sent to reps in the region where the drop is to take place. It is probable that if Yat's rep was correct, that a drop may be imminent in that region only. i.e. Dallas, Philly etc. - Sometimes they do regionals before Nationwide. Just a thought, without throwing out Yat's tip entirely.

Again Samsung already announced a 2.0 back on November 7th. They are doing it. Just cause some dumb phone rep doesn't know or can't say anything about it doesn't mean it's not true. It's official period. So all were worried about is a date.
YouTube - www.phones-online.net

I worked at T-Mobiles Midwest headquaters. I was in with the group that delt with 3g expansion in the midwest. I had the list of sites that were going to go live for the entire year. I watched Tmonews and saw users comments about how they talked to a rep on the phone about this going live and about that going live and either they were usually wrong or they were just guessing using terms like "soon" and "It's coming". Tmobile reps are just to answer questions about current products and services. They have no connection with anyone on the inside. Engineers have no communication with service reps and they wont tell reps until it's near completion.

Some people just love spreading unfounded rumors! Follow Samsung mobile's Twitter page. A recent post said there were currently no plans to update the behold 2 it was posted the same day they announced the moments bug fix update.

I don't see that post. All I see is this one
@chadmd23 At this time, we don't have any info on updates for the Behold II. Stay tuned! We will keep you posted!

which is just saying they aren't announcing anything official yet about dates and there is nothing new.

A video that was made before the phone was released means nothing. Samsung also promised an update for the original behold that NEVER came. The fact is that sales of the behold 2 are not good and don't yet warrant spending the money to push any update. Don't hold your breath guys the fact is that this is in no way confirmation or official.

These conversations are reminiscent of those pre-N1-launch conversations. Speculations abound. And eventually out it came, some specs were on point, others were way off base. Still, it eventually dropped and I daresay that the deluge of complaints will change how it is handled from now on.

There is a universal truth to be learned here for those of us who are anxiously awaiting an update. What seems to move companies are letters to the hierarchy. We can continue to discuss this here, but if we add letter writing to the company, it may make a difference. I am addressing my letter to the new President.

It is worth the price of a stamp to get some movement toward the release of this update. Won't you agree? If we write the letters tonight and mail them Monday morning, they should all begin to arrive at about the same time...thus making an impact. They need to hear from us!

Unless its released in the next few days, Im jumping ship back to BlackBerry
Go for it ......
*hope they fix those server crashes by then*

Ever since Android was released , every update that was announced has been released .. now everyone is waiting on Android 2.* , and the same rumor_mill that said " no 1.5 for the G1 its only for newer phones " was WRONG , then it went on again "no 1.6 for G1 not enough memory" was also WRONG... and now we have the behold 2 waiting on the newest update and the rumor_mill is churning out higher levels of STUPIDITY than ever...
FOR all those who don't believe that the Behold 2 is not going to be updated , I will gladly take the phone off your hands @ $25 a pop ,...,

I agree, its already been stated that 2.x will be made available by samsung right now its a sit and wait game. As far as customer service go good people and hard workers but they are dead last to know anything in regards to updates and available equipment. But honestly 2.x could come out today at noon and before 6 this evening there will be a laundry list of complaints about 2.x. Some people just love to complain

lol true to that. People expect too much from technology. Its created by humans and so has the flaws of those humans. Even with its quarks I still love this phone. And I would try out the Galaxy rom but the camera doesn't work and thats the whole point of this phone. A nice camera and a nice screen. If they didn't need it, should have stuck with the G1 or myTouch and gone with Cynogen's mods of they wanted more then just stock.

Been twitterin with Samsung, got the same we'll let you know if we know anything about an update but I think I got them when I said why dont they do what HTC has done by releasing all software(kernel, drivers, etc) that allows for user mods and the posability to build a port for 2.x.

Twitter / Samsung Mobile USA: @thelonetraveler We are lo ...

I say we should all hop on twitter and send a bunch of requests their way. Though this is just their PR department, and just like with phone reps, they wont know till someone from up top lets them know.

Dan, you can gladly have mine for $230. Afterall, it isn't even 3 months old yet. And you can wait for the update and have a pretty little brick besides! Aren't you excited??? No? Me either

When I bought my Treo when it first came out, it worked until I upgraded to the 755 and it worked until it died. When I bought my Blackberry when it first came out, it worked...flawlessly. I lost it. Then the Androids came out...perfect timing! However, this Sammy is a bust, whether it is its operating system or not, it doesn't work much of the time.

As someone previously said, when you purchase a Smartphone, it comes with the understanding that you will receive timely updates to keep it operational. That isn't happening. One can keep sending SB2's back and getting refurbs or, new batteries ad nauseum or even new phones if you have recurring issues and insurance.

Ok. We have identified that at least one of the underlying issues is that the OS is not up to par for this phone. This renders it useless for serious deployment in your business, let alone your personal life. It is embarrassing to keep making excuses as to why my important call has dropped or that I cannot press any functions because the screen is frozen.

I want Samsung to step up to the plate on this one. Whether that means releasing a workable update or issuing us new phones, remains to be seen. But something must be done. This is too expensive a phone to just tra-la-la about. If I just used my phone for texting to Facebook friends, it would be different.

First of all Android the first mobile operating system to ever offer RAPID updates for its phones. The issue here is like you said Samsung. All other systems did it and still is doing it this way > BUY A NEW PHONE TO KEEP up to date. Windows mobile was biggest culprit, then the iphone did it launching two phones 6 months apart. BB updates so does palm, but android is the most rapid. ..
I'll take the phone but not $200........ Nothing more than $100, like you said it's of no use you.
