Hi, Just thought I'd share some pictures from slashgear for any of those still pondering over the Sensation or the GSII.

If your in two minds, these few pictures sealed the deal on the Galaxy S II for me.

Reading text on the Sensation when not zoomed in looks pretty damn amazing, but coming from a Desire - AMOLED Screen, I just don't think I could bare the yellow-ish whites and faded blacks and the lack of colour/contrast.

Still, it's a shame to loose sense. :/

what sealed the deal for me, though, over the Sensation is a lot of things...
screen, size of the device, ARM Cortex A8 CPU vs A9, T-Mo possibly being dissolved, etc.

the SGS2 is just a better device, imo, overall.
i've heard about the jaggies on the SGS2 in browser, but pretty positive that can be fixed via OTA update.

oh, also the new security HTC implements on their newer devices vs the SGS2 being basically completely open. that's a huge bullet point for me.
and how much you wanna bet that the SGS2 is gonna have much better battery life over Sensation?

pfft. sorry but i didn't buy into the markets' new obsession with bringing 3D to everything. will be at least another 2 years before i consider getting a smartphone with "3D" capabilities. i don't care how awesome some are claiming it to be. just a gimmick imo.

the only reason i'm even happy about all this new 3D tech is because it drove standard HDTV prices down a bit. in 2008 i paid $2800 for a 52" HDTV that was top of the line Samsung. compare that to how much one of the same size costs now that doesn't have 3D but substantially better specs lol. of course i know the huge price decrease involves other things like cheaper parts, etc. but the 3D "craze" def had something to do with it as well.

iunno. i think they're false hopes haha.
i thought the Adreno 220 was going to be up there and possibly be the best. but i think i read somewhere that it's just a tweaked 205. and according to that bench above, it's not beating the Mali in the Exynos.

pretty sure the top SoC's this year (dual-core anyway) will be the Exynos and TI OMAP4.

either way, it's just a p*ssing contest... they're all very powerful to be in cellphones. i simply prefer an amazing screen and slim device over the current competition. imo, nothing comes close that's even currently rumored to be coming out this year.

Interesting that the Sensation scores lower in the 3D tests, I know the resolution is higher but the framerate is capped at 60 fps on the Galaxy S II.

Damn, every area on the GS2 was farther out than the Sensation on that benchmark, except for probably the last yellow block.....sick.

I agree with the above post. Just like last year most of the high end Android phones that came out were so similar it shouldnt have even mattered what chip was in the phone.

I recall seeing smartbench 2011 done for production ready SGSII and HTC Pyramid (code name for Sensation) just about a month before official SGSII release. SGSII beat Pyramid by nearly 2X on most categories there. HTC fanatics quickly came up with excuses that Pyramid is still in development and will do much better with finished drivers.

But this quadrant result is with production Sensation I believe. It's highly unlikely that Sensation will beat SGSII when it lags behind SGSII so much on quadrant. Still a lot of them are under impression that adreno 220 in snapdragon 8260 is new GPU king. I can't wait to see new smartbench with retail SGSII, Sensation to quiet them.

Another serious player in AP this year is TI OMAP4 that showed only in Optimus 3D so far. Some rumor has it that Moto will put it in Droid 3 and also Bionic as Tegra2 failed to couple with LTE radio.

After spending time on the xda forums, i have realised that you meet SOME people, not all, that simply do not listen. As far as they're concerned, HTC is the best company that makes the BEST devices and nothing else even comes close - that quite frankly, simply isn't true.

Not to mention that they are all so far up HTC's ass, that they don't actually know whats out there. Another thing that sealed the deal was the resoultion. The qHD is not native to android apps and widgets. So i asked myself...how long until the apps get updated, to stop stretching/black bar's occurring. Don't to limit myself to only those that have been updated. And from what I've read, the battery isn't too good.

Indeed, however NOW the Sensation - final release - has come out and that I've made my choice - I know I've made the right decision based on the fact that I've been using LauncherPro for LONG and honestly haven't given Sense a second look. and the fact that I have the sensation, just a mini-sensation A.K.A HTC Desire...

So you can look at this in a number of ways, but from my perspective Qualcomm would only supply a sample to a reviewer if it was working perfectly, their not stupid.

So you can conclude even a overclocked Sensation can't beat a stock Galaxy S II, so the Sensation will probably benchmark slower than the sample.

I saw that benchmark too. HTC fans were all over it very excited. But Exynos was not there as far as I recall. The main result was that 1.5Ghz snapdragon 8660 in test device beat 1.0Ghz tegra2 in optimus 2X only by ~10%. This means that when they are scaled to equal clock, Tegra2 still beats 8660 by significant margin. Now we know SGSII beats any Tegra2 phones handily, which in turn means Sensation will be beaten. It's good that your testing is another confirm SGSII winning Sensation.

For me the HTC phones are good, but all the same, daivik pics classic example.
look at the difference between the desireHD and the HD2.
The HD has a bit more ram, 1 gig more internal memory and 8mg camera over a 5.
every phone is only SLIGHTLY different from another....its a bit silly to me.

SG2 screen is the killer choice, and the HTC crap speaker is the killer blow.

In all honesty, it the HD's volume was better....i would have got one ages ago. ...but seeing how their phones are just a tweaked version of a predecessor does not fill my individuality needs to go there

It looks a bit clunky and laggy on pinch to zoom than SGSII. The way flash video window behaves on zooming looks very funny, like floating around for a while.

Everyone enjoys finding metrics that say their phone wins but let's remember that with good competition from many makers we all win - and that when someone invents the perfect phone, we'll all agree and buy that one. (And then discuss our programmable washing machines in some other forum. )

Remember - if it weren't for Android, we'd all be using a crappy OS on fine hardware.

Two last things - 1) remember that !Report button when you get a problem poster and 2) have a great time with your new cool phones!

I've made a thread and did some research. ALL UK models will have Exynos.
I believe the same is for the USA, because these will be the main regions in which the GSII, will be battling other phones.

Given the groundswell of user love for the Exynos, that's a good thing. Personally, I'd likely be happy with any of the dual-cores, it just comes down to how well implemented in final phones.

Many thanks for the clarification - and before I check out I would like to point out that whole pinch-zoom thing was a real abuse of how to use an HTC browser. I think the new Sense 3 and the new TouchWiz 4 seem to really take the game forward in better capability for us users.
