Root Need help with wiping phone

I have an original droid that I am trying to sell and would like to get all of my personal information off of it. I have been led to believe doing a factory reset will do this and I have tried the following things.

I tried turning the phone off and then starting while holding the power buton and the X key down and all that happened was the Motorola symbol came up and that was all that happened.

I also tried going into settings/privacy/ data reset. It said erasing data and then it powered down then powered back up and stopped at the Motorola symbol..

It is rooted and running LFY 1.9

If anyone could give me a hand with this I would really appreciate it. Thanks

I am needing to sell my original Droid and am having the hardest time with wiping all of my data off of it. I can't get the phone to boot into recovery so the data can be wiped. I have tried starting the phone and holding down the X key on the keypad, also tried going to settings/ and wiping the data that way, also went into rom manager and tried to get it to boot into recovery, also tried to install a new ROM through rom manager, I also tried hooking up my data cable to my phone from my computer and starting the phone heard that would boot it into recovery. And every time no matter what I try the same thing happens it get's stuck at the Motorola symbol and that is where it stays.

It is rooted and running LFY 1.95 with the blueberry theme.

I would really appreciate and suggestions or new things to try.

One easy way, Download Rom Manager if you don't have it already, through it, download a stock 2.2 froyo rom and install it, it should ask if you want root or not. Do you standard data wipe before and after flashing and you should be good to go.

That's what I thought to but when I go into ROM manager and select the update.zip file it does everything like normal until it tries to start back up then it gets to the Motorola Symbol and thats where it stops, I have waited a long time for it to go ahead but nothing happens.

I appreciate your help. Any other thoughts?

Chances are good that your custom recovery has become corrupt. Go into ROM Manager and scroll to the bottom. Select "Flash alternate recovery" and wait for it to do it's thing. Then scroll to the top and select "Flash clockworkMod Recovery" and wait for it to do it's thing. Then completely turn off your phone (make sure you are not plugged in) and once it's turned off, slide open your physical keyboard and hold the X button. After holding the X button for a few seconds, hold the power button until your droid turn on. Once you see the Motorola "M", you may let go of the power button, but DO NOT let go of the X!!!!! You must hold the X button until the custom recovery shows up otherwise, it will boot normally!!!!

From there, you can wipe everything and restore to factory settings.

The idea of using a stock ROM is good, however, it doesn't always remove Superuser.

If this doesn't work or if you have any other questions, let us know.

Edit: I have merged your two threads as they are about the same issue.
