Help phone security

WaveSecure Mobile (Free until the end of the month)

Wheres My Droid (Paid version so I can use a eardrum-shattering ringtone)
+
Contact Owner (Free)

Lock screen

If my phone goes missing, I have the lock set on the phone so they cannot easily get into it, and whoever picks it up will see my contact info when they turn it on so they can voluntarily return it.
When I notice it goes missing I can borrow a phone from anyone around me and send a text to my phone. The text will send my phone bat-$h!t crazy and I will be able to hear it within a decent earshot range.
Then if that doesn't work, obviously the person who picked it up is not planning on returning it. I go to a computer, remotely lockdown the phone, backup the info to the computer, then remotely wipe everything (personal info and all) on the phone, while at the same time tracking it via gps.

That pretty much covers everything on all levels of security... aside from chaining the phone to my wrist.:p

I suppose there's no better motivation for a well thought-out plan than paranoia :p

I don't even use the lock screen on mine! Although I'm probably going to start once I flash the new modem file that fixes the emergency call issue. I'll probably also download the above apps, just for good measure... especially since Crit's already done all the thinking for the plan!

Wife lost her Palm Treo thing a little while back. Luckily after I called it a few times, the guy who grabbed it answered and returned it.:p So during the first couple calls I was quite paranoid. Though I would chalk it up to personal experience making for good motivation... and paranoia.

Well, at least get the 'contact owner' app. It's free and it would be very helpful getting the phone back to you.

ha you managed to quote me in mid-edit. Yeah, I'm going to think about it a little more... I guess it's worth being secure, especially with my work email going to moxier. My company probably wouldn't like it if someone got ahold of my email account.

so anyone find a security app for our phones?
I found mobile defense, but i'm curious what others use?

I'm looking for something to:

- find my phone if I lose it
- lock it remotely if it gets lost
- etc.

I am using lookout. It backs up your phone, scans for viruses, and will find your phone if lost. I dont know what other people with more experience with the android apps have to say about this app., but I myself have not had any problems with it.

I tried it and it failed to find my phone.... that's a pretty basic option. So I lost faith in everything they said they could do, even though I never proved any of it wrong.
Granted, I still have it to scan for viruses just in case... but I think I may remove it soon since there are scarcely any updates, which I assume should be a frequent necessity like all other anti-virus softwares.

So, can anyone tell me the best security to use for the phone? You are right, it is a necessity to have frequent updates, and I have yet to see any with this program. However, when I had it search for my phone it did find it. The "scream" on it was not that loud, but still loud enough for me to locate it.
