There is only that method for Orange branded and it only works on amoled desires.

If you're definitely amoled? Then it should work but if you read the last posts of that thread, he says he can't get it to work any more. Did you follow the whole process?

You may have to flash a new custom Rom and do a factory reset just to make the phone bootable but there's nothing else you can do to unroot.

Why do you want to unroot?

You can run a PB99 Image also, it will unroot your phone and wipe EVERYTHING. So that you use the right image we need more info about your phone, which service provider are you with for instance, but as SUroot aksed; "Why do you want to unroot?"

thanks for all the replies

the reason why i want to unroot the phone is due to phone crashing, for eg keyboard wont load on various apps/text messages; also sometimes the phone light dims down and stops phone from functioning; only way to resolve the problem is to remove the battery.

i also have a problem with mobile internet, when i first bought the phone i was able to use orange mobile internet to watch youtube videos, now i cant. when i get H symbol the internet works fine, but majority of times i get the 3g and it just hangs, does not even load google. even g is sometimes faster than 3g.

is there a guide i can use to fix the problem? to atleast allow me to use the phone.

When you try and reboot from here is this where the phone hangs? The good news is that you haven't bricked your phone, the bad news as has already been stated is that Orange haven't released a copy of their rom.

You could simply try an RUU, this is not official Orange bloatware, so it may be picked up on if you need to send the phone back. REMEMBER, your problems might simply be down to a bad flash of your custom rom, your hardware (phone) might be fine.

As you already had the link I'm assuming you've tried this, what happened/ Why didn't it work?

it basically hangs when i just press the on button, normally it would take 30 sec then ask load into phone but now is just hangs in htc startup screen.

i tried to follow that guide but when i followed the guide i kept on getting md5 error, so then i just left the files the way when i download the zip files and tried to install it that way.

so what can i do?

i cant do root again through the guide as i cant get past the htc startup screen and therefore i cant turn on the usb debugging. The Rooting process

  • Turn on the desire so it is running android normally.
  • Enable USB debugging (Settings > Applications > Development)
  • Run UnrEVOked (double click reflash_package.exe)

OK, probably best to wait till the morn to see what the others think, but if all else has fails you could RUU (this is an official HTC stock rom), I suspect your phone may well be cured by this. If not, you have access to USB Debugging anyway now so, re root, then try the Orange unroot path.

how can i run htc stock rom? do i need to have usb debugging on or is there another way? could i turn on usb debugging through hboot menu?

the thing is i need phone urgently, if only i had a

No you don't need USB debugging to run an RUU, its what engineers use to reset phones, I would be happy to try this as I think it will fix your phone, but this is YOUR risk!!!!! I take no responsibility for cocking up. :D

Its best to wait till morning I think, I'm sure your quality of life won't be diminished to much by not having your phone for a couple of hours more.

no problem, il just wait. thanks for all the help.

I'm a little confused as to exactly where it boots or hangs here, so just want to check:

When IB asked whether you could get into the recovery menu (black screen, green writing) you replied:

yes, so what can i do?

So it doesn't boot/hang when you try to get into recovery?

If you can get into this menu, then you can flash a new custom ROM. Select "mounts and storage" and mount your SD card, then you can copy a ROM zip onto the card via USB (and copy off anything you want to). Then return to the recovery menu and you can wipe and flash the zip.

If that isn't working then an RUU is the only thing I can think of. I've not seen the word used in the thread so far, but I assume you have a goldcard?
