Help Hearing your own voice in earpiece problem

Ok I really want this phone but when I went to Verizon to try it out I noticed that when talking on it I hear my own voice pretty loud through the earpiece of the phone (very annoying!) I know a little bit is normal so you don't feel as if you're talking into a block of wood but this is way too much. I thought it was just a bad phone so I went to another Verizon store close by and the same thing there.

Other then this strange call quality issue I absolutely love this phone. Does anyone else notice this when talking on their phones???

If so, have you found a fix for it?

I sure hope so, then I will buy it for sure.

I have the same problem and it drives me crazy. I've tried switching EVRC to EVRC-B and it didn't help. It doesn't do it all the time though. I'll give the phone a little bit longer before I go to Verizon and complain.

Is there a "hearing aid" setting that might be causing this? I know some phones have a setting for this. I'm actually surprised more people haven't chimed in here to say that they have noticed this as well. I noticed it immediately and I don't even own the phone yet.

I checked and there is a hearing aid setting. It isn't on by default. I tried disabling the "Voice Privacy" for enhanced privacy mode, didn't help. I tried switching the Preferred Network to CDMA mode, didn't help. Lately I've been getting a lot of echoing also.

I'm just about to call Verizon and ask what gives. I switched AT&T to verizon hoping for better call quality and less dropped calls. As of now, I haven't dropped a call but talking on the phone kinda sucks.

So I spoke with Verizon and they informed me its a Hardware issue. So I'll be heading back to Best Buy for either a return or try a different headset. Oddly enough the same issue is happening with the wifes Incredible. *sigh*

I did a little google searching and found out other people have been complaining about this issue as well with the incredible 2. The technical term is called "sidetone" but when you have too much, which is the case with this phone, it's rather annoying and quite frankly a deal breaker.

It seems call quality has taken a back seat lately with a lot of smartphones, seems manufacturers are too concerned about it being a small computer rather then a phone.

I had this exact same problem with every Samsung Fascinate I have ever used. People thought I was crazy, because they couldn't hear what I was talking about, even though we were both using the very same phone!

I did endless research and found that, yes - this is a sidetone issue. I think certain voice frequencies just have more feedback than others, which explains why I can use any Fascinate for just a few seconds and hear this echo, but some people never do, even on the same unit.

The sad part is, this is not something that manufacturers seem interested in patching or fixing. I had to go back to my old Blackberry to be able to talk to people again. I currently have a Samsung Charge, and do not have that problem at all on it, either.

If I am understanding this correctly you hear your voice when you speak. I have a lg ally and I have found t is to happen only when the other person has the speaker phone on.
