hi - iphone convert over here

Hi guys

I finally got fed up! I had an original iphone then upgraded to the 3g and I just cannot stand having no physical keyboard any more!!

I'm swapping my 3g for a G1 with an 8gb card so i can keep my music etc.
It should be here tuesday or wednesday fingers crossed

My first question (of many many many!) is.. is there a noob guide to read to get me up to date with what is happening, firmware versions, jailbreaks/root access etc.? I'm dipping between a few forums and sites and the moment picking up tidbits but wondered if there is knowledge that i just HAVE to know?

Anyway, look forward to devoting my life to my new phone

I'm still keeping the contract .. It would have been around 350 to pay off as I have 9ish months left

indeed, not the greatest, but it's ok it does included ample texts (i forget how many, but i've never used them all), same with the minutes and unlimited internet access.

I was completely fed up with trying to use the soft keyboard to send texts and browse the net, so I'm really looking forward to the G1!

Also the iphone 3G is really slow to respond to actions, for instance when I load the sms app, it takes around 20-30 seconds to load, and I only have maybe 10 texts in there. I assume the G1 is faster?!!
