Click me.

I really hate to be the bearer of bad news in my first post, but it looks like the EVO 3D is getting the same treatment as the Sensation.

It's really not the biggest issue for me, coming from three iPhones, I'm simply looking forward to the customization that Android allows, along with the Sense 3.0 GUI.

EDIT: Sorry, just checked the Root section... figured not everyone would look there first for this information. Apologies for doubling up.

SMH, what bad news. The phone will probably be rooted by release to a few days after at the most.

being locked is not a big deal, almost all android phones have locked bootloaders, the issue is if its encrypted, then that makes it almost impossible, Yes, it is signed, making it really really hard to get a full root, but not impossible

256 bit encryption -
Unless HTC changes their mind....No custom Roms on this phone....
Nexus S 4g....here i come...
: (

I haven't been following XDA on this but I understand Motorola came out with a really harsh bootloader signature system and progress has been made.

I'm willing to to give HTC one more shot and buy this phone, but if it is never rooted it will be my last.

Will someone please explain to me what this means? If the EVO 4G had a locked bootloader, then I don't we will have an issue flashing custom Roms. I don't see why everyone is making such q big deal about it.

The Sprint HTC EVO 3D has a bootloader that is cryptographically signed. This means you need the 256-bit key to unlock it or some pre-sale developer bootloader for root access.

The Sprint HTC EVO 4G had a signed bootloader but it was not cryptographically signed. I believe a leaked version of the bootloader was found and that is how it was rooted in the first place.

I wish online petitions served a purpose but like you said they are useless and a waste of time.

Now if someone is willing to write a letter to HTC, or an email to the CEO, i'll definitely be on board.

Indeed. The only purpose they truly serve is a placebo effect for those who sign them. ;)

It makes them feel that they have made a difference. As for the email addresses, I saw a listing of HTC email addresses somewhere, but I forget where. :(

Welcome to the forums!

Judging by the number of threads and posts I'm shoveling over there all day, you might be right. :)
