Anybody who says this doesn't make much difference don't know jack squat. If you have a Task Killer delete it. More problems than they are worth. A few tweaks is all you need. Some People say the whole idea of having a smartphone is exactly that having a smartphone so why do all this to phone. I can check my email whenever I want so I don't need my sync running. I have phone I can talk on, texting, Internet, that is all I want my phone for it's smart. If you want Everything on and running updating all the time with a pretty live wallpaper with a ton of widgets....hey don't complain about the battery. If you have 4g in your area on this phone the battery going to drain quicker. And we have a little bloatware which doesn't help.... If you don't want to root your phone or afraid of bricking it this is the way to get things done.
Go to settings in phone and make sure in settings on phone you have where you can download Apps outside of market checked.
1. Download "Astro File" from
http://download.cnet.com/Astro-File-Manager-for-Android/3000-2248_4-75016122.html
2. Go to web brower after downloadeding Astro File and go to bookmarks, bookmark this page. Now add the bookmark to your home screen, it's like having an app.
3. Now go into your Astro File App... hit menu key on phone then go to tools, now go to Application Manager/Backup....All your Apps will be in Installed Apps check each one and hit backup.
4. Now reset phone back to factory state. most phones you will go in settings and then to Privacy Or SD storage.
5. The phone is reset. Now go to cnet.com from your phone and download Astro File from it or if you're phone has it's own Sd card file manager use that to extract Astro File. Now go into Astro File again it "menu" then "tools" like you did before Go to "Application Manager Backup" go to Backed up Apps" check all the ones you want to keep and hit install.
No market needed less crap on your phone running in background and no regulations when you download outside of the market with good Apps Google ends up removing from it's market.
5. Go into your phone settings go to " ACCOUNTS SYNC" and disable Background Data and auto Sync unless you just have to have it like most important people lol. I do not however, I check my mail when I want or just text someone forget the dumb stuff.
6. Go into settings and go to display go to " Brightness " disable the auto brightness and turn your brightness down to as low as you would want it. There should be a widget on your phone or a setting where you can turn brightness up or down by clicking on it add it to your home screen for easy access..This is optional, makes it easy if you need to turn up brightness in sunny environment.
7. Go to your Animation option, it's in settings it might even be in same group with "brightness" and " screen time out" turn your Animations off or " some Animation"
8. Turn off, Wi Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, when not using them. Find in settings on your phone or it will be in browser settings and make sure your location isn't turned on. Everything you look up online just write ft wayne in front of what you want. Example Denver Colorado Best Buy or Denever Colorado Walmart. Just type in your city name before you type what you want do this right in google for anything you want to find locally where you live You don't need to be tracked to find your way around.
9. Go to your phones camera and take a picture of something pitch black. Put your hand over the lens or go in a pitch black room just make sure the picture is Black. Go to your wallpaper and choose my own phones for wallpaper background on phone use the Black picture.
Do all of that and let me know if phone works any differently. Remember to shut off phone once a day for about 5 minutes then turn it back on. This is good for the phone. And pulling the battery out of it once a month and putting it back in is good also.
You're phone should be faster, longer battery, and run smoother. keep your cache, history, data cleared every so often in browser settings. If you can avoid downloading Apps then do it, for example instead of downloading Ebay, Amazon, Etc Etc type Apps remember just use your browser to find these sites or whatever site you go to "bookmark" it in browser then send the bookmark to your home screen. Some Apps like Facebook the App works smoother on the thunderbolt.
