Help My Samsung Galaxy S2 is faulty?

Hey all.

I turned off my phone today when it got to 15 percent battery, I then waited 90 minutes and turned it back on. The battery was charged to just 44 percent. So 29 percent charge in 90 minutes. It was plugged directly into the mains using the adapter provided.

Is my unit faulty?

I currently have it downloading some game content with the screen off, and it is actually losing charge even though its plugged into the mains. The unit also gets very warm.

Any thoughts?

Cheers :)

Gary

Hmmmm, well good luck finding a manual in the box. I did not have one.

I put charge time at 5 to 6 hours on my Galaxy S2 so far. It did a full charge over night, but if my HTC Desire can full charge a 1400mah battery in 1hr 45 minutes then I would expect my Galaxy S2 to fill a 1650mah battery in a similar amount of time.

I believe the SGS2 takes about 2 or 3 times as long to charge as HTC ones as it uses a slower charge which improves the battery's life in the long run.

If it is a new battery, and it presumably is, it might need breaking in. Let it run down as much as possible, then charge it for a long time (e.g. overnight), repeat 3 times. This might help it charge more reliably.

Last night around 2am I charged my phone. Then woke up around 7am today, checked my phone and it just charges for about 52% for 5 hours. I was kinda scared for a bit, my phone was hot when i took it. I dont know what happened, I usually charged it overnight. And everything is just fine then. Luckily, I charged my other battery then changed my phones battery. My battery life just lasts only for almost 12 hours. I only use angrybirds, cam, music, FB and just googling. Idk whats faulty is it my battery? Is it the electric connection? When I play angrybirds it doesnt heat up. Its just fine. But when I use it while charging it heats up badly. Now, im charging my other battery just to make sure if it will be fully charged for 3 hours. If it isnt I might take it to Samsung service center. Can you just help me and tell me whats the best thing to do to make sure that the phone charging is fine? Do i have to turn it off while charging? Cant i use the phone while charging? I have been using my phone for almost a month now.

Not switched off. Been charging it switched on for almost a month. Do i need to switch it off while charging?

no you shouldnt have to. its a phone end of the day. charging it while its on is standard. i would of thought that with the chip getting hot and other opponents it would damage the parts after a while?? fry them. normally the only time you phone should really heat up is when your charging and playing games. :D.

I've had the sgs2 for about 2 weeks now. It always used to charge without getting heated up, even if I had the wifi sync running while charging.
i've also been playing music with it while charging, and it never got hot from that either... which it shouldn't anyway. I've never had any mp3 player that got hot.

My phone is just as it came, no updates no secondary battery, just the one it came with.

So, the first week and a half, it never once got hot.
3 days ago, first time, I had it on the bed, locked, screen turned off. When I came back to pick it up to go out of the house hours later, it was piping hot, when I unplugged it. Could barely touch it.

Also, I agree with some people who have posted that the heat appears to be more near the camera, not near the battery so much... its definitely the upper end of the phone with the most heat.

Shouldn't the processor be sleeping when the screen is turned off?
Like only listening for phone calls and not doing anything else?

might start taking infrared pictures of it, to pinpoint temperature variations.

I'd hate to have to send it in and be without phone :p
