Hey guys!
Need a new device
Can't pick between the Galaxy S and the Nexus S!

Galaxy S-
Gorilla Glass-
720p video
Awesome XDA community!

Nexus S-
Flash
Newer
Curved display(No gorilla Glass, but gonna have a screen protector anyway)
Gyroscope

Which of the two would be more customizable?
And does the gyroscope have a greater advantage over the accelerometer?

Also,I read that google disabled facebook contact sync
An 'important' feature in my book

Recently eliminated the Incredible S as an option =D
Your opinions are requested

EDIT-Sorry about posting,I realized there were similar questions.
Would still appreciate any input :)

My vote is for the NS. Has a great community on XDA and it seems like new roms pop up everyday. Plus in my opinion you can't even compare the two since the SGS has Touchwiz. In my book a stock nexus phone always wins.

Also if you are a person who enjoys rooting and flashing custom roms then syncing your FB contacts won't even be an issue. I'm running 2.3.4 on my Nexus S with a custom rom and i can sync my contacts. :)

Overall the Nexus S is a much better choice, it's basically the same phone but with stock android and updates from Google.

Nexus S does not have micro SD card slot, so you are limited to the 16GB internal.

This can be a pain when flashing ROMs, as sometimes you have to do a master clear (erase all data, including internal data).

Also if your Nexus S gets bricked, say good bye to the data on the internal storage.

I much prefer the Galaxy S with micro SD card slot.

Is it 'easy' to root the Nexus S?
I heard the Galaxy S is near unbrickable, hope the case is the same with the Nexus S?

Also,i would wait a while till the warranty is done to mod,so would i miss out on the awesome functionality of the galaxy s contact manager(thing)?

16gb is way more than i would use :D
Currently on a tytn2 with a 2gb card ;)

Also-Which lasts longer?(Durability)
Samoled or S-LCD?(SCLCD the same thing?

Both have Pentile screens, so you really should try reading text on them before deciding.

The GPS on the Nexus S is supposed to work properly, whereas the Galaxy S never really did.

There are 2 versions of the Nexus S with different displays,SAMOLED and S-LCD,
are they both pentile?Which would you recommend for a long term user?
(Slcd suffers from burn in?)

The Nexus S is by far one of the easiest phones to root. And it's pretty much just as unbrickable as the Galaxy S, you can always restore using Odin so as long as you have a backup it's basically impossible to brick it. I have flashed so many different roms and haven't ever come close to bricking mine. And if you are worried about the warranty you really shouldn't. As long as you flash back to the stock rom and relock the bootloader then they have no idea you ever rooted your phone and your warranty is still intact.

And imo i would recommend SAMOLED over SLCD anyday.

I had not heard that Nexus S came in both screen technologies. I've never seen PenTile on an S-LCD display btw. It's commonly associated with SAMOLED screens, but apparently the Atrix uses PenTile on an LCD (not S-LCD) display.

Also, OLED is vulnerable to burn-in. LCD not so much. Not sure how big of an issue burn-in is for a mobile device though.

Durability and readability?
I personally haven't seen them side by side, but have read that the colors are more natural on the LCD.

I hear this a lot. Personally I have never noticed it being hard to read text on the AMOLED screens. I'm not sure where this complaint originated from; It's never been a problem for me. I text message A LOT and being able to read my texts was my #1 deciding factor.

I spent over an hour on Super AMOLED & Super AMOLED Plus screens just reading text messages and websites. Also, my friend has a Fascinate and when she's over on the weekend I browse the web on her phone. I have never had a single problem with it being difficult to read text at all.

EDIT: To the OP. If having the Samsung UI & Widgets aren't a big deal to you. Nexus S is the way to go all day long. Both of the phones are excellent devices however. I'd be happy to own either.

I do like the Samsung widgets a bit, especially the SNS widgets, would it be possible to get similar functionality on the nexus?

Also, would the same Custom roms apply for the i9020 and i9023?(samoled,lcd?)

+does the gyro sensor make any difference?Would 'future' apps which utilize it be substantially better?

It's totally a personal preference. PenTile really bothers my eyes. Yet I've heard lots of people say they don't notice it. So... this is one of those times where the OP needs to take a look in person and make the decision.

I wish I could :(
I have no way to compare the 2 screens, although youtube helps,it can't possibly represent the displays accurately.

Go into the Verizon store and play with the Droid Charge and the Droid X2. The Charge has a Super AMOLED Plus and the X2 has a qHD-LCD. Now, just evaluate the screens themselves. Because the Droid Charge is woefully underpowered and if you compare devices the X2 is going to be a much better phone overall. However, if you want to compare displays alone... that's what I would do. Heh, that's what I did! :p

+Tv out on the SGS :/

But in my case i barely make use of video, and 16 gig internal :D
(I'm currently using a 2gb card on an htc tytn2)

"On update will give you these"
Sorry,didn't get you :(

Ment to be No, not on. No software update will give you these features on the Nexus S.

But then again on Nexus S you get Gyroscope, flash, NFC and a curved screen, guess it depends which features you want most.
