I'm looking to possibly get a G1 and have the following questions. The local T-mo authorized dealers in my area are horrible- I've been to 3 of them, two actual T-mo stores, and a variety of electronics stores that don't sell T-mobile. It's hard to find these things. I've been getting conflicting information and even though I tell them I'm looking to buy a G1, it's been difficult to see a working model and not a fake model. I have a better chance of asking for nude pics of their mom than to see an actual working G1. Anyways, since I didn't get any help there, I figure people here might know a thing or two about the G1. 
1) I want the white one- is there any truth to the paint flaking or chipping? Or was this issue solved?
2) The $25 T-mo data plan includes 400 text messages, picture messages, IM, e-mails. So does this mean each time I get a email on my gmail account I get charged? One sales rep said, yes- you get an e-mail and that counts against the 400 messages. When I told him that was surprising since it had unlimited data, he then said of course it didn't count because you would be using the internet while giving me a bit of attitude with it.
3) I've read a lot about the GPS not working, or it taking too long. Can you turn off the GPS and just use cell towers to approximate your location? And how long does it take to lock into your location using the cell towers?
4) Is there an option for the browser to resize the webpage to the G1's screen size when it first loads up instead of the full size? Or is there another web broswer than can do this?
