Update this morning

It failed for me. I was rooted, I unrooted via Gingerbreak and re downloaded the update and applied it again with no luck. Anyone else run into this?
If you removed/renamed any apps when you were rooted, it will fail. Updates check for a stock system and root (or notrooted) doesn't matter. In fact, I updated my rooted system this morning, and then rerooted with Gingerbreak - no probs.

You must restore the apps.

received and installed the update at 4am in Brazil, first try. Model number from A501 to A500 and Product SKU from 3g to wifi. Still showing the cell standy thing, tho.

Didn't notice any random wake ups;
GPS finally found me lol I'll test that further.. I still have the "searching for GPS" notification at the bottom of the screen, even though it seems to work perfectly now. Anyone else?

Might be my mind, but HC homescreens transition feel smoother and overall system response faster.

Thanks, Acer!

That's a 3.01 vs. 3.1 discussion. Zero, zip, nothing, to do with the odd update pushed this morning.

What??? Just to clarify.

You know, I may be imagining things, but with this update my A500 seems a lot more responsive and generally a lot quicker jumping between open apps, scrolling through the HC screens, etc.

I received an update this morning hoping that it was for the 3.1. I later learned that it was not. I too did notice a faster response, apps opening much faster and the display does not wake on it's own.

If you are having trouble with the update because you deleted files after rooting check out the discussion here:

Update 1.141.xxx - xda-developers

This really saved me, I deleted the link to FB and link to Adobe and TB would not restore them. I was able to pull out the files I needed and copy them in my apps directory and after unrooting I was able to successfully update to .141. Good Luck!

Dang. I see nothing there about fixing the "wake out so sleep" issue or the wifi disconnecting in low bar areas. The wifi is probably a non-fixer, but the sleep mode issue should have been covered, since the most common issue.

Yes, this was fixed Rush. Too bad you gave up early eh?

Oh yeah, HD videos are now playing on Youtube, at least for me, without buffering or hiccups or sluggishness or blury feel to it.

Oh ya, almost forgot, they fixed the wifi issues and beefed it up.. I am like streaming in the back bedroom like I am next to the router now.

Oh yes, weren't those some of those your main gripes? lol

By the merry old way Rush, thank you so much for your complaints everywhere. I do truly believe that they listened to you, because this tablet today is stronger, faster and more robust than it ever was yesterday. And you know what? I really think it was in part based upon your main thrust or arguments on 50 different forums that you posted these issues on that woke them up to it. Of course also credit goes to the many who called and bitched and moaned too. So Rush, I want to send a beer your way brother... Thank you for your support :)
