Mixed feelings on battery life?

Alright, so I've been comparing the Droid X and the Inc2, as one of them will take my upgrade in about a month (hopefully the Inc2 will be free on wirefly by then).

Anyways, one of the biggest things I'm looking for is battery life. Well I've been hearing a lot of mixed things about battery life for the Inc2, I've heard it has the best battery life out of current Android phones, but going to verizon and looking at reviews, I see tons of "bad battery life" and so on.

I'll be coming from a Fascinate and this thing sucks down more juice than...someone who drinks...alot of juice. So battery life on my next phone is going to be important.

And just for the record, I don't want to have to turn data on and off. I keep GPS on (It's only active when you use it anyways), and I always keep 3g on. So don't tell me "well if you keep data off all the time and never use gps and blah blah blah you'll get great battery life"

Thanks guys!

from most reviews on the forums i've seen great battery life. myself, not so lucky. but my phone may have been bad. i've got a replacement coming in today so hopefully it was just a case of a defective unit. i'll update back here again. but from most of what i've read, i'd say 90% of users claiming amazing (1+ days) battery life even with moderate usage

I have noticable improved battery life with the standard battery compared to my former INC1 with 1750mh battery. Pretty consistantly 15 hours off the charger ending the day around 50-60% with low to moderate daily use (without using GPS navigation) compared to 20-30% with my old INC. I charge overnight and am good for the next day. I use Juice Defender, leave Bluetooth on and have the screen set for automatic brightness.

Well when I use mine, I use it fairly heavily.

Sometimes I text all day (With the Fascinates SuperAmoled, that can be a big issue for the battery).

I also like to use Pandora for maybe an hour overall (if I use it in the car though, it's plugged into a charger) and I occasionally surf the net for maybe 1 hour overall during the day.

I'm not expecting to get DAYS of battery life, but I would like to not have an issue getting a full day out of it.

If you literally text - or do anything keeping the screen alive - all day, you're likely to need the extended battery. For me (& most people from what I've read) the screen uses most of the battery. I know my wife's D2 has great battery life but not sure even that would survive such use.

As for my normal use (a call or 2-3, web, maps, email, gtalk, maybe some music, etc. - don't text very much) I get 24+ hours. I leave 3G & GPS always on. I just don't think it would survive with the screen on all (or most of) day.

Have you had any smartphone that can last you a full day?

My Eris was a battery beast (I know that phones now are out of it's league by miles lol)

And my Fascinate, truly isn't THAT bad. I can make it through the day MOST of the time, I'd just like to have that extra cushion. I know texting is rough on battery.

I mean, you say it lasts 24+ hours for you and I think that's enough for me to confirm that I would like it. I think I would be lucky to have my fascinate last 24 hours if I just put it in standby. And that really isn't a joke. It probably drains 5% or more an hour.

I know I'm not the most battery efficient person, and that's why I'm looking for a more battery efficient phone.

I came from the Eris as well and I can tell you this thing is miles ahead of that in regards battery life - even rooting the Eris and using xtrSense. If I managed the radios a bit (JuiceDefender, etc.?) I'm sure it would last me a couple of days. As I've said previously I've forgotten to charge overnight and still had 40% battery the following morning. Of course, I still got anxious and plugged it in for a bit at that point. Still learning just how much to trust it.

If you like HTC (Sense?) this is a great phone. You can't do any better.

That post was a huge help. I just want something where if I end up spending the night drunk at my friends hows, I can turn it off or put it in standby for the night and wake up with a little juice so I'm not out of a phone from 12AM-10AM. Something that I can forget to charge and still have a little juice.

That on top of my wish to move back to HTC from Samsung, I think it'll definitely be my next phone. Thanks everyone again!
