After 110 views but no help on XDA, I thought I would ask on here.
My phone keeps crashing when I try to perform certain tasks, such as watch a movie, use Google maps even if I try to use it to quick I.e moving from one app to another or going from a call straight to an app. Tried rooting and clearing the bloatware, now running 2.2 can't remember who's but still happens although not as frequently. The phone is a referable from o2 as my last one died of USB death. Is it a hardware issue or is there a failsafe setting that maybe too low.

Its running Wolfbreaks CM6 v6 with the GO Launcher EX
BUT
the above was happening on the stock 2.1 with and without Go Launcher EX and it was happening on the rooted stock 2.1 with and without the bloatware removed.

Was on BB .54 now running .58.

getting around 1100 on quadrant and taskkiller is showing average of 135 on the memory.

I dont think its a rom issue more of a hardware or core settings issue but that is just speculation.

Can you replicate it every time or is it kind of random?

First, what app are you using to play movies? What type of video file are you using and what are it's dimensions and audio stats? (like AVI 624 x 352 using XVID MPEG-4 and using the MP3 codec for audio)

Can you replicate the issue without playing a movie?

Do you think it might have something to do with quickly jumping from data on the SDCard and back to the ROM? Or jumping around on the SDCard where a movie might be to another part of the SDCard?

If I were really concerned about my phone randomly rebooting, I would install the stock 2.1 or I would install a ROM like this -

[ROM] FreeX10 | BETA 4 - MAJOR CAMERA FIX | Froyo 2.2.1 | 27/03/2011 | xRecovery - xda-developers

And I would change nothing....add no apps....no widgets....nothing....I would let the phone get used to the new ROM for at least a day so that it streamlines that cache perfectly, then I would start adding one app....try to make it crash....add another....try again....and so on.

One more thing. I noticed Google Maps has had 2 updates in the past 2 weeks....I haven't seen what those updates were for, but I hope that isn't the issue....hope you are up to date on the apps.

And what do you mean by crashing? You said the phone crashes....what does that mean to you? Does it restart or does the app force close or something?

Hope something I typed in here might help you.

Using Arcmedia for the Xvid films, its kinda random although the more cpu dependant apps tend to cause it more, I dont think its a Rom issue due to it happening on the stock 2.1 with and with root and once rooted with and without the SE bloatware, and it also does it on Wolfbreaks CM6v6 although not as much, and its like you remove the battery and then restart, the battery gets very hot at times too. always has even on my last x10 which ran all of the stuff I have now without issue.

Well, easiest fix is a long one. Convert your movies to a compatible format for the phone.

Make the massive AVIs MP4s and change the resolution to a smaller size. Then your phone won't have to work as hard.

Try that and let us know if it fixes anything.

And you didn't answer some of my questions.
