How is this done?
I figured it must be a PITA to do, because nobody has built one from the leaked GB, is it that big of an undertaking that it isn't worth doing? Or has this really never been investigated. It wold be kinda col if a ROM could be made into an SBF file, so if something went wrong it would be easy to return to "stock" with that ROM instead of starting over and having to overlap the builds to get where you want to be.

You can't do it.

The stock bootloader is the only thing that will accept SBF files, and the SBF file has to be signed by Motorola's private encryption key before the bootloader will accept it.

So, without Motorola's private encryption key, you can't build an SBF file... and if we had the private encryption key, we wouldn't have to build an SBF file because we could replace the bootloader.

It doesn't make sense to me. Although I'm a bit daft still when it comes to this stuff. If you need the bootloader key to make an SBF file then how did we get the SBF file for Froyo?

By that logic you would have needed this same key for the Froyo SBF file right?

The SBF file is the same file the Verizon Techs use in the stores to un-brick phones.. Someone/somehow leaked the files.

Well alrighty then......lol....So now all we need is that same person to leak the damn SBF file for this .596. Come on dude, move yer butt. git'r done.......lol

That's assuming there is an SBF for 596. With my limited knowlage of these thing it would seem logical that since they didn't change the bootloader there would be no need for a new SBF. But as I said my knowlage is limited so I could be way off.

There should be one, otherwise the store reps would have to SBF to FroYo, then update. That would take them too long and verizon knows if someone is in the store too long for service, they get complaints and possibly lose that customer.
Seriously, they treat me well when I go in, I have several devices on unlimited plans and they like selling me lots of stuff. Why jeopardize that by making me, or any other customer wait?
I think an SBF file is already made, just not a pre-rooted on, though.

I'm going to work off the assumption that VZW is a greedy company. Think about this logically. Would VZW not have a way to restore phones that customers screw up so they can resell them? I think not. They sell refurbs all the time. They have to be getting them somehow right?

And Bugly. You get right on that. let us know if you are successful in sweet talking that SBF file out of your bud.
