Accessories for the HTC Droid Eris

Rubber cases = tear/stretch/expand. Never last, stick to pocket, there really is no upside. It doesn't really obsorb shock either.

Not in my experience with the Crystal Skin, W4lly...

Tear? If you took a hacksaw to it, maybe. Those who own one, you can relate to what I'm referring to -- it's not silicone, but a much tougher material that's still malleable.

Expand? If mine hasn't done so in several R&Rs, in 40degF temperatures... I'm not worried about it, shrinks right back to its original size, which is skin-tight on the phone, until I need it off.

Stick to pocket? Nope. Sticks to my fingertips just fine, but not my clothing.

Last? I'm willing to bet longer than the finish on your hard case.

No upsides? See above. Not to mention, cheaper. I do agree with Willard, a Crystal Skin in black would be sharp, but I like mine just fine. The aesthetics are the only reason I can think of to get your hard case, as it does offer different, fancier finishes... but my priorities are probably different from yours.

Not absorb shock? You mean where I drop it from chest height onto asphalt, and the battery door doesn't fly off, leaving a fully-functioning, scratch-free unit? Works fine to me...

Not picking a fight... just addressing your comments. Crystal Skin for me. ;)

^I'm assuming he isn't talking about the case that we use because it isn't rubber. I would tend to agree with him about rubber cases, though. Every one I've used tore in some way, including the one on my iPod Nano right now.

I later ordered a similar screen protector from Skinomi. That one came with the spray bottle, but it also seems to feel better and I find the Eris easier to use with the Skinomi. (I also like that there are no more finger smears on the screen. It was pretty clear to anybody who was curious what my screen unlock pattern was by looking at the unprotected screen.
Just installed mine last night. I agree with the above but the one thing I don't like is that it doesn't cover the entire screen. If you center it, it leaves a "frame" of a couple millimeters uncovered around the entire screen. Since I use a case it won't really be an issue, though.

Just got this one and I believe it the same thing everyone else is selling except it's $4.80, Tight fit, hardly any bulk added, looks great and does not take away from that slim Eris look which everyone ooohs and awwws over.

Amazon.com: HTC Droid Eris / S6200 Black Rubber Feel Hard Case Cover w/Belt Clip: Electronics

Forget the belt clip it would stick out to far

I believe this one is the 2-piece, snap-together case, right? It is different than the "Crystal" case which others are referring to above.

By the way, I just got the same case from eBay yesterday:
1
BLACK Snap Clip On Hard Cover Case for HTC ERIS 6200 == - eBay (item 220536402268 end time Jan-12-10 21:03:59 PST)

PROS
- slight rubberized feel gives good hand traction, but doesn't stick to your pockets (similar to the Eris' feel itself)
- Doesn't add too much bulk to phone
- Doesn't get in the way of the screen
- Has cutout for volume buttons
- Doesn't attract lint
- Great price ($5)

CONS
- Constructions reflects the price ($5). I got black and you can see some white where the pieces snap together
- Could be slimmer

Has anybody tried both the snap-together kind and the Crystal Skin and can comment on difference in:
1. Bulk/thickness
2. Feel
3. Level of protection

I have the seidio "innocase" and spring loaded holster combo. The case doesn't add bulk and has a slight rubberized texture for secure handling. It slides in and out of my pocket smoothly like a crystal case. Can be found at seidioonline.com, I would highly recommend it. The best screen protectors I've found are the "steinheil anti-fingerprint" at the sgpstore.com. They are a bit pricey, 2 for $11.99, but IMO well worth the price.

I had a rubberized case for my Dare and I hated it. It always grabbed and stuck to my hair. Ouch. I have the clear plastic case that covers the three sides and I have a screen protector for the front.

Didn't know they had pink. For sure, my husband wouldn't mistake our phones with that case

Did you have rubber silicon (soft)case, or hard rubberized snap on case. Big difference. The silicon soft type seems like it would be "sticky", but not the hard type :)

Yes the steinheil anti fingerprint is cut specifically to the Eris' dimensions. No cutting required. They have an instructional video on how to apply the protector on their website. Prior to getting the Eris I had the LG Dare, which my wife now uses, and it has had the steinheil anti-fingerprint screen protector for about a year and a half and it still looks brand new. These protectors resist the oily residue from your fingers.

Thanks. How clear are they? Do they give the screen a speckled appearance? Or are they visually undetectable?

Ordered one of the pawavenue smoke cases, and was told that they have a week wait on 'em, their manufacturer screwed up and sent them black.

Follow up discussion with them seems that they're not getting any more, the manufacturer is not gonna run them as normal production any longer so get 'em while you can.

Now if only they would do me one of the TPU cases in kawasaki lime green to go with my ninja before retiring the molds...

Update for Case #77580 - "HTC Droid Eris"

We do not have any information if a case will be made at this time for that device, but it is something that has been requested a lot. I would say to keep an eye on our website, as it will have the most up to date information on any new releases that we may have.

Thank you,
Natasha Meggenber

Since I traded in my droid for the eris on Monday... I bought a white and a black snap on cases. The white one is shiny, the black one is rubberized but still a hard case. I bought those from ebay for really cheap. I also bought from ebay, two green android stickers to put on the cases. From Amazon, I bought a car charger with a retractable cord for under $2 and a skinomi screen protector. I hope these two products are quality. I will post when I get them. Oh, and I also bought 2 Golla pouches off of ebay ( listed under iphone), they were $5-6 each, nice quality and very cute! Already got one of those and it fits the phone great! So glad I switched phones :D

I have a golla pouch for my Eris. On eBay it is listed. for an iPhone. I don't have my case on yet, but I have no doubt there will be enough room. The pouch is not tight at all! It does offer great protection unidentified my purse. I still want a screen protector though, just for added protection and maybe reduce fingerprints?? Hope this helps.
