Help help connect to computer

so i have windows xp and cannot connect my ascend to the computer. ive looked at a few post and still cannot figure out how to fix it. i guess i need a driver but downloaded it from a post on here but it didn't seem to have one for xp. any help would be awesome, and i really do not know much about computers at all so when you reply it would be great it you could 'dumb down' the terms..

the ascend drivers will install to any version of windows, ASCEND USB DRIVERS.rar once you downloaded the file extract it to your desktop and open folder and run pc option if the drivers are install it will say uninstall drivers and if drivers are not install it will say install drivers, if it does say uninstall drivers click it and let it uninstall, than reinstall drivers, and it will work. Also if you are on cm6/7 than you have to bring down the notification bar on phone and enable usb mode to transfer files from your pc to sdcard or sdcard to pc.

is you on stock rom or custom rom cm6/7? also did you click browse for drivers and browse to the folder that you extracted?

i'm on CM7, i browse through the folder i extracted.

did you pull down the notification bar on the phone and tap usb to enable usb mode, with cm7 thats how you have to get usb on, btw what build are you running cause the older build had usb issues when trying to mount usb on the pc.

i have the 0521 build, i did pull down the notification bar & enable USB mode.

sounds like the drivers are not install try it again, uninstall the drivers and reboot pc than install the drivers again using pc options, than unplug your phone from usb and re plug it back in and try it again, might want to give the phone a reboot also.

still no luck when i go on-line the phone is still connected to my CPU the notification sounds off when i click to web page, does that sound normal?

when i try to get access to my sd card with no luck, i leave it connected & w/usb enable on & when i go online & click on to any site, the a sound comes out of my phone as if the sd card notify

thanks...had step away from computer for a sec, got some ribs on the grill, lol but keep me update on everything, trying to make sure everything works before you leave.

ill try mines on an xp machine and see whats going on...btw is there another computer that you can access in your home? cause what i did first when i was testing on win xp, i went to device manager and deleted android 1.0 and than i re install the drivers and it work.

i have window Vista on cpu. i'll see if i can go to d/m & try that.

I had that same problem from the second week I had my ascend, but when I started to install cm6, after a couple of tries at the rom, things didn't work right one way or the other, eventually, I made a mistake, and formatted, and deleted everything with clockwork mod, even clockwork mod! When I eventually got clockwork back on the phone, I downloaded the zips for cm6, and gapps. Everthing worked perfectly, even the computer connection, which is way better, and faster, than the old way. Deleting everything, and reinstalling did the trick for me
