Hey all,

Ive' searched the forums, and only found this as a post regarding my question (http://androidforums.com/nexus-support-troubleshooting/48146-unable-change-voicemail-number.html) but it didn't seem to have a resolution.

I have an unlocked rooted phone from ebay - which seems to have a voicemail number with a different area code than where i am from. Previously I had visual voicemail with my carrier on my old iphone.

What I'd like to do is change this VM number to what it should be but it doesn't seem to like that. When I am in settings > call settings > voicemail - i have "my carrier" selected for voiecmail - and a greyed out number it calls (unable to change either)

I'll call my carrier and confirm if this is my voicemail number but don't think they'd appreciate hearing i'm using an unsupported phone on thier network :p

Anyone had luck changing this? Am I missing something? Will a reset destroy my unlocked/rooted settings?

Thank you for any replies, much appreciated.

The VM number is set by the carrier. It doesn't matter if the number has a different area code. I used to wonder about this too until I talked to a guy at the AT&T Store.
