Help Video Recording is TERRIBLE on DX2 any fixes?

Just thought I'd start a forum on this to see if anyone has found a fix or app out there that makes the DX2 actually manageable with video recording. Out or the box this phone is downright appalling at video recording. Way too choppy and laggy for even basic use...so frustrating! What's the point of being able to record 720p when it is so choppy?!

There's a thread on Droidforums w/folks w/similar problems.

Video Recording stutters and smears... - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum

My wife's DX2 records fine, no issues, it's set to save pics/video to the SD card.

One guy on the other thread got his phone replaced and that seemed to resolve it, but then when he loaded up his card w/4gigs of music, he started having some problems again.

My wife's SD card is pretty much unused aside from storing pics/video since she got it.

So then it seems like it might be an issue related to available space on the card, but the guy who got his phone replaced said his first phone had the problem even when his SD card was pretty much empty.

Without question there is a problem with the video recording in 720p and even below. I noticed the problem when recording my daughter swinging. It was horrible with studdering and ghosting after about 5 sec in. My heart sank. The problem seemed to be random but then I noticed fast moving and bright lighting seems to cause the issue because in dim settings I didn't have a problem. My wife has a Thuderbolt is her video is OK.

I benchmarked the two and the droid x2 had nearly 80& better overall performance but in individual catagories the Thunderbolt has nearly x2 better than the X2. One of these catagories was writing to memory.

By default the video records to an external card. I changed this to internal and guess what? NO PROBLEMS. Its a fix but not the one I want. You can record about 50 min of video in 720p onto the internal storage but then to transfer this to the external card is slow and time consuming. Maybe its the card. Maybe its the lack of RAM with the super fast processor. I don't know. But this is the quick fix. If the issue is not address through a software update or some other fix I will probably return the phone. Its hard to believe someone didn't catch this before it went out the door. I seems every bit of technology I own I am the test dummy and I find the "accident" first drive out.

BTW. On the video is amazing for a phone...really amazing...after the "fix"

I used mine Saturday for the Avila Beach Blues Festival...ok well I TRIEDto use mine. The HD video recording was really glitchy and the phone rebooted 3 times in a matter of a couple of hours. The 1 video out of the 3 that actually recorded is extremely glitchy and freezes on playback. The phone is all stock and I've had it for a little over a week now. I love the screen and the features and I REALLY WANT IT TO WORK!

AnTutu...For whatever reason the "sd card write and sd card read" are low. Theres a different board in these phones because of the tegra processor from the original x. The Thunderbolt's overall performance was about 60% (If I can remember) of the x2 with this particular benchmark.

Also...the x2's performance drops off 30% or so after running for a while. I can't find any sort of app shutdowns to fix this. Its barely noticeable when scrolling and flicking through screen. The only way I can fix this is to shutoff...take out battery (extra step)...and restart.

Yep changing to internal storage is a quick fix....did anyone get a different SD card and have better performance storing to SD card?

changed to an old 2 gb sd card....11% faster on sd card write.. i.e. 8.5 MB/s
changed back to stock 8gb card = 7.6 MB/s....Ill pop in my 32GB sd card from wife's phone tomorrow.

BTW...the Thunderbolt's read and write speeds are almost twice as fast to sd cards at 15.0 MB/s. Seems its obvious what the problem. Some tech dude knowing how the phone processing can take it from here and explain why. Im guessing its the new board that handles the Tegra dualies.

Just picked up my X2. Came from the X1.
I have the same video issues. Choppy recording, choppy playback. I switched to internal card recording and that fixes it. Is this random, or are all these devices having this problem? I have several other issues as well, so I'm thinking I'll need to return it.
Was the change of sd card successful?

My sound seems to play OK, from both internal and external.

Most the apps I've installed aren't working properly. Hangs, slow response. Haven't rooted or anything.

Just noticed in my settings it has Internal Storage at 4.36 G total space. I thought this came with 8 Gig internal card. Does this have a hidden OS partition?

Is this thing a lemon???!!
