Root Phone is running extremely slow, losing battery rapidly HELP!

Alright guys so here's the deal, I just installed the following on my rooted EVO:

ROM - Gingerbread 1.2C

Kernel - Tiamat 4.0.2

GAPPS - gapps 5/9/2011

Radio, wimax, nv, and pri - [ Radios ][ 5-6 ] All EVO Radio, WiMAX, PRI, NV & HBoot versions - xda-developers

I found this ROM here: [Official][5-15-11][ROM] gingerbread-evo-deck [1.0][2.3.3 Stable][1.2c][2.3.4 Beta] - xda-developers

Here are the following problems I've encountered since installing:

  • Battery life is absolutely terrible. It will die after 2 1/2 hours on a fully charged battery.
  • Homepage randomly lost all the apps and widgets, along with the other pages too.
  • Applications won't run and I'll get a " " process cannnot run.
  • Apps will randomly shut down saying"blank"process.has.been.stopped.

That's all I can think of at this time. I'm not sure what to do at this point. Any ideas?

check in spare parts for partial wake times and see if there is some app or something that is not allowing the phone to sleep properly. try the latest tiamat kernel as well. why did you flash radios for? what is your baseband? also have you tried to wipe cache and dalvik cache?

edit:what is your pri?try downgrading it to 1.77

Sounds like a combo of bad flash and PRI. Destroyer smoked my battery in 2-3 hours because of my PRI.

The above recommendations are ones I'd try first, if after that, nothing, try doing a full wipe and reflashing the ROM. If after doing that, you still experience the same issues, do a full wipe and try a different ROM.

Hi guys, so the most recent combo of Gingerbread and Tiamat has completely screwed up my phone. My battery dies extremely fast, the navigation rarely works, among other problems. Do you guys have some suggestions for a good ROM/Kernel combo for 4G/Navigation/Battery Life/ Customization. Thanks so much!

John

Welcome to the forum John. Which GB ROM were you running?

this is a very commonly recurring question, that being said, youll likely get a ton of suggestions. The best performance/batt life ive encountered is the setup in my sig. Some folks like sense based roms, but im a fan of aosp. I use cm7 and tiamat(the newest of both until recently where ive not noticed a huge increase of batt life with the small script changes in the newer kernels) there are quite a few aosp's out there, but youll find an army of cm7 users that swear by it. MikFroyo is a great sense rom, and his kernels are usually good to go out of the box. Koni has a bomb diggity sense rom called eliete series 3 (ES3) but hes about to drop ES4 soon. Best thing to do is make a nandroid backup and try stuff out to see what best suits your needs. Let us know if you encounter any problems or have more specific ?'s homey, and as Frenchy said, welcome to the forum!!!!

well finding the perfect rom/kernel combo has always been an ongoing search for me. however, i think for me cm7(and variants of) and tiamat works the best for me so far. but every phone is different and thus what works for me may not work for you. so the only way to find out for yourself, is to flash away. i can't even tell you how many roms and kernels i have flashed in the past six months or so.

so with that in mind try mikfroyo, kings, and koni's elite series sense roms. these are very fast, and super optimized for performance. and to pair that with netarchy toastmod kernels (which kernel is really up to your phone but i would start with the havs more kernel)

for aosp you can try cm7.0.3, kings gb, and evo deck. and try savage kernels or the savaged zen kernels.

just some suggestions though.
