Amazon App Store Thread - Daily Free Apps

I could see all my apk's but pretty sure they were being saved on sd card (was using astro)

edit: not rooted

You can only access the app folder that he is talking about with Root Explorer or something like that, and you have to be rooted. Astro and ES only have access to the SD card where Root Explorer can access the phone itself and the SD.

Does the phone turn off while you let it download? If so there is a default setting with CM7 (I noticed when I was having trouble downloading things over WiFi) that turns it off. You need to select "Never" so it doesn't disable the WiFi when the phone turns off or when it is disconnected from the USB cable.

It wouldn't work on DSL at home but I got it to work on someone's Fios.

Astro can see the internal memory fine. /mnt/emmc is where everything i save internally is accessed. There are also 2 other folders i can access from /mnt/
now every app/apk i get from amazon is stored (on my phone at least) in /mnt/sdcard/android/data/com.amazon.venezia/cache
This might not be the case for all but it is in my case true

edit: i realize that without root there is MUCH i can't access internally besides attachments and my pics and vid's (i chose to save those on internal)

Works on a tablet but I'm highly disappointed the game is not in HD. Yes it will fit your resolution but the clarity leaves much to be desired if you ever seen it on IPad or Pc with an HD display.

Theres an tablet version available (tegra zone?) with higher resolution textures but needs allot of memory, works on other devices with 1GB of memory.

Tablet version uses around 300mb of memory when running compared to 70mb on the mobile version.

But I agree the quality of the mobile version is very poor in comparison.

Perhaps it depends on the phone model or ROM or something as to where the files are saved to. On my Dinc running Froyo I can't tell Amazon where to save my files, so they are automatically put in the phone's internal memory. And to see that you need to have root privilege.

Edit: you posted just before I did and said the same thing basically. So NVM

Hmm i never told it where to save them and i stumbled on a amazon folder (see above post) that had the same number of apk's as i have apps 'bought'
they do have weird names so hard telling what is what but they are apk's...

You know, I can see what you are talking about with that dir on th sdcard. I see a bunch of files, however by looking at them they are all the same size: 1.33mb. I tried uninstalling one and the amazon appstore got uninstalled. So I don't know if these are the installer files or what.

hmm that is strange. I have like 50 or so files and they are all different sizes. details say apk's.... i simply assumed that every time i hit 'get app' it was saving the install file.... might mess with it after i get up later.

If you play with it any more than keep me posted, i'm interested now:)

After uninstalling just that one random file (then reinstalling the amazon appstore), I went back and now the entire directory on the sdcard is gone! I checked the appstore and all my apps are still there. The ones I still have on my phone still work, so I don't know what that directory is. Perhaps it's a temp dir for installing the new apps. Idk

HUH:thinking::thinking::thinking::thinking:

Well that is A LOT of space they are using depending on how many apps you have from amazon. Perhaps a routine uninstall - reinstall might help app perform better... Wonder if clearing cache does the same thins or if those apks are factored into total app space

Well, I just downloaded Astro to see if there was a difference between that and ES, but I still couldn't see anything in that directory. I also checked the Appstore specs, and it's only taking up 2.7 MB, with only 280K data and no cache, so it looks like I'm rooting if I want to go further on this - my big concern is that I'm running out of internal memory with almost every app I download until I move the app to the SD card, so I'd like to know if that's because I just have too much loaded on this poor little Droid, or if those APKs are eating up space unnecessarily.

So at the risk of sounding like a complete newb, is there a definitive idiot-proof guide to rooting a Droid running 2.2.2? I'm PC-savvy, but know next to nothing about Linux, and every time I've looked into rooting I find all these conflicting methods floating around, so up till now I've chosen to just not bother with it. What's the best method?

I was getting some lag on my first play session, when the levels started getting big. However, since then it's been fine. Pretty addictive and very fun.

Anybody else follow the achievement hole all the way? It was cool.

With the Chinese Zombies? :p

The last boss is a pain...I get so close to winning until he throws one of those little egor zombie things towards the back and I can't kill it fast enough.

Is there a different tablet version? I think that the amazon version gameplay looks fine on xoom, but the splash logos and still graphics are pixelated

Yep, there’s a version for tablets out there marked for Tegra 2 devices, I've got both apk files on my phone, no idea where you get it legally I'm afraid.

But it is easy to find. ;)

I have Samsung Epic 4g.
When i downloaded game i decided to move it to SDcard but game was not working on SDcard so i had to move it back to phone so i could play. Basically, only way to play game on Epic 4g, is to have game installed on phone ONLY!

After playing for hours all day, on and off (i was at the pool level) then, when i logged back in, my name was gone, and all my save data was gone (had to create new name) I'm very pissed off to lose my day worth of progress.

Why did game lost save file?
What if it happens again?
How to avoid this situation in the future(i don't want to start game after 20 levels every time it lose data)
Where is save file location so i can back it up to SDcard (and will it work)???
