Root Can a flashed evo to metro work in DC/Virginia area???

Hello, i just purchased an EVO and wanted to know if i flash it to metro would it work in the dc/virginia area//??? I bought the phone from a friend in Detroit, where im from, and its guaranteed to work in detroit (internet and all) but not guaranteed to work in the dc/virginia area, where i live.
Can anyone explain to me why it would/wouldnt work in the dc/virginia area????? Any recommendations? THANKS!

Welcome to AF. I would assume that would depend on Metro's network coverage, no?

well i i have an evo flashed to metro right now..i live in south Florida..as far as im concerned,if you get metro coverage in your area,your phone will work in that area (im 95% sure).i cant think of one reason why it wouldnt..(if i find out mine doesnt work if i go out of state ill be []Dissed! lol) but i mean,as long as you can find someone with houdini to flash it to metros database and program it to metro,youll be good to go!cuz metro advertises that they will flash it for you in any location but thats a complete LIE! theres only one guy in my whole city that i know of that flashed foreign phones to metro.and he charges 100 for a FULL FLASH (mms,talk,text,gps and web) and 50 for just talk and text..
but i have guides in my signature on how to program data,mms yourself! youi should have all the resources you need right here in this forum i hope this helps a bit..also take a look at the thread i posted about metro Evos. you might find some fun facts.lol
