So far from what I can tell, it is not possible to do it with this phone. It appears that the ROM is blocked from updates by not being able to receive OTA updates.

that may be so but theres threads and posts all over the place on updating to the latest build so worry not flower theres both help and hope

Hi, I've made the choice to switch my stock MetroPCS Ascend to CM7 2.3

I've read threw the forum on how to switch to it but it's all pretty confusing, I'm not really a techy kind of guy. Can anyone assist me in switching my ROM to CM7? All help is appreciated.

Si i have downloaded cm7 several times it is always 253 kb when the download is like 66 mb. Is this right? maybe you open it and it in turn downloads the complete file? Just downloaded the gaps yesterday and it downloaded fine at 5.5 mb. Any thoughts? And that was over my 1x turtle connection.

Metro FINALLY released the 2.2 update. You have to go to the @metro app store and download it. In the process of doing it right now.

2.2 just came out for the ascend update software the file sizes 142mb it is flashing the firmware on my phone right now wish me luck I just got it back to stock this evening

it up and running and it is version 2.2.2 and so far even though it has only been up for and hour now it is a huge improvement over the 2.1 boingo not included that in itself is enough reasons to upgrade i disliked Boingo crape always popping up it is faster but the market still will not let me install flash 10.3 the market thinks I'm still using 2.1

this 2.2.2 still sucks compared to cm7, but with either rom flash will not work on this phone regardless what ever rom you put on it, and yes its a big step up from 2.1 but our phones lack the hardware to run flash and all.

I figured out what my problem was with angry birds I was playing it on 2.1 now that I have 2.2 damn it's fast

you must of had a old version and also it will not work right if it is install to sdcard instead of the phone itself. Also i made a backup of the rom so if and when isaac return he can take a look at it, and get it to work with cricket users...overall i like it some what but not better than cm7.

ok, its a big file, so i might have to upload to megaupload, also remember the old phone iso, well this on has a total different iso now.

Huawei must of got my email I sent to them two days ago because I was pretty pissed off about there some what unjust delay in releasing 2.2

oh one other thing the update program says it will take up to 2 minutes to complete the upgrade that is freaking incorrect it's more like 10 minutes so don't panic like I almost did.

I'm paying 50 dollars a month because I have a 3g phone the problem is I have never been able to achieve 3g 1g yea no problem as long as I'm standing on my head and facing north fraking MetroPCS is ripping me off and by what I have read from other users I'm not alone I see a class action against Metro in the not so distant future.

huawei is sneeky...z4root will not work with the one click on this 2.2, but like always there are back doors, we just have to find them. but if you try to root it, it will slow the phone down big time and also different this is not responsive, but once the phone reboots everything is back to normal. how every was able to install cwm 3.0.2.8 with no problems, just giving everyone a heads up if they where planning on rooting metro version of 2.2.
